Gold to Turkish Lira explained
This page brings together the price relationship between Gold (XAU) and Turkish Lira (TRY), together with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 30, 2026, 1 XAU buys 197,521.62 TRY, while a single TRY equals 0.0000050627 XAU.
The figure at the top is the interbank mid rate. It sits exactly halfway between the price at which large banks buy XAU and the price at which they sell it. Think of it as a neutral benchmark: no fee or margin is built in, so you rarely get it as a private customer.
What ends up on the TRY side is shaped by two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Further down we show how those costs are built up, put them side by side and give concrete ways to lose less on the exchange when you change XAU into TRY.
Paying less when you change XAU into TRY
Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive because the margin can make up the difference. The fairest figure to compare is the amount received, which combines margin and fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a TRY country, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Pick the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Timing plays a role too. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. For transfers that can wait, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. That avoids guessing, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, while funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Bundling smaller transfers means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
Most providers stay away from the mid-market rate itself. They offer a rate that is a little less favourable and pocket the gap. That gap is called the exchange rate margin. If the margin is 2%, then you lose roughly 2 XAU on every 100 XAU, without it ever appearing as a fee.
Next to that markup, a lot of services ask for a separate fee. It may be a fixed amount per transfer, a share of what you send or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad extra deductions can follow, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Look twice at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is the total amount that arrives in TRY for exactly the same sum, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
Why we compare total cost
We start from the live mid-market rate for XAU/TRY. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, which gives the amount the recipient receives. In total 0 providers are included, so you can see the differences at a glance.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. The final price is always set by the provider itself, since markets keep moving.
No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. We may earn a commission through some links, which help fund our work. That never changes the ranking: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
Larger transfers: what to check first
Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own and that offers protection if the company fails.
Verify every detail of the recipient. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details. Verify through a channel you trust.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
Recent movement in the XAU/TRY rate
Across the last year, the XAU/TRY rate moved by -8.73%. During that year the top of the range was 234,547.87 TRY for one XAU, and the lowest was 185,999.43. The current 197,521.62 is easy to place within that band.
The distance between the high and the low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
Precious metals priced in currency: XAU/TRY
The standard unit for metals is the troy ounce, which is about 31.1 grams. In currency notation, gold is XAU, silver XAG, platinum XPT and palladium XPD, so the metal behaves like one side of a currency pair. One unit in this pair means one troy ounce.
That figure is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Buy a coin or small bar and you pay a premium on top, to pay for production, distribution and the seller’s margin. Selling back typically happens below the spot price.
There are different ways to hold metal. Storing metal at home brings its own risks and costs. Professional storage comes with storage costs but takes care of security. Exchange-traded products give exposure to the price, not always to the metal itself.
Tax rules also differ. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. This page shows the price and does not tell you whether to buy or sell.
