Finst versus MEXC: which one leaves you with more
Choosing between Finst and MEXC comes down to more than the brand name. What matters is how much you actually keep once both the visible fee and the hidden margin have been taken into account. This page puts a number on that.
In our database, Finst belongs to the crypto exchange group and handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies, while MEXC belongs to crypto exchange and handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. This already says quite a lot about where they overlap and where they do not.
Under the calculator and the scenario table we explain how we work out the cost, what each one is good at, and which one fits which situation. Because the rates are live, the outcome can shift during the day.
Why the amount can change the winner
Who comes out ahead can flip as the amount grows. On small sums the fixed part of the price dominates, on large sums the percentage does. Our scenario table reflects this by testing several amounts.
Some providers lower their percentage above certain thresholds, which is not always visible in our sample amounts. With Finst or MEXC, check the current terms before you move a significant sum.
Is your money safe?
Cheap is only good if your money is in safe hands. Look for a licence or registration with a financial regulator in your country or region. Providers normally list their licence and the supervising authority on their website.
With e-money and transfer services, ask about safeguarding: customer funds should be kept separate from the company’s own money, so they are protected if the company runs into trouble. That is a different kind of protection from a bank deposit guarantee scheme.
For crypto exchanges the questions are similar, but not the same: ask about registration, custody and withdrawal options. And on any platform: turn on 2FA and never reuse passwords.
The fee is only half the story
“No fees” is one of the most common claims in money transfer, and one of the most misleading. A provider can still earn its money on the rate. The bigger the amount, the more that margin hurts.
So we never compare fees on their own. Two providers can arrive at a similar price by very different routes. What counts is what lands in the account at the end.
Also look beyond the conversion: card payment fees, surcharges for weekends or rare currencies, and costs on the receiving side. We include what is published, but it pays to double-check before a large transaction.
Same category, different details
Both Finst and MEXC sit in the crypto exchange category, which makes this a fair, direct comparison. They solve the same problem, so price, speed and coverage decide.
Look at coverage first: which currencies or assets each one supports, and which countries you can send to or from. Finst handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies; MEXC handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. A missing currency is a dealbreaker that no price advantage fixes.
Beyond coverage, the cheapest option on your own route wins, plus limits, verification and the quality of the app. Since both play in the same league, switching later is usually easy.
Delivery time and ease of use
Fastest delivery: Instant at Finst and Instant at MEXC. That is the quickest route, not the usual one for every transfer. Bank holidays, verification checks and the receiving bank can all add time.
Speed often depends on how you pay. Faster funding options can come with a higher fee, so check the total in the calculator. If the money is not urgent, the slower and cheaper route is often the smart choice.
Convenience counts too: a clear app, transfer tracking and quick support make a difference when something goes wrong. A small test transfer tells you more than any review.
Comparing two crypto exchanges
Crypto exchanges price their service in several layers. First the spread: the difference between buy and sell price on a simple purchase. On the trading screen, maker and taker fees apply instead: makers add orders to the order book, takers fill existing ones.
Then there are deposit and withdrawal costs. Bank transfers are often a cheap way in, while card deposits usually cost more. Withdrawal fees on coins vary a lot, so check the asset you plan to move.
And then there is the question of who holds your coins. Leaving assets on a platform means trusting it to keep them safe. Many users move larger holdings to a wallet they control, which makes the withdrawal fee part of the real cost.
The short answer
In 3 of 3 scenarios we can test on both sides, MEXC came out cheaper at live rates. That gives MEXC the edge for most typical transfers.
This does not rule out Finst. The scenario table above shows the routes where Finst does better. If your currency pair and amount are among them, Finst is simply the cheaper option for you.
Cost is one thing, not everything. Speed, limits and the way you pay in can tip the balance toward Finst. A few cents on a small transfer rarely beat that kind of convenience.
How we calculate the cost
The cost of a conversion has two parts: the fee you see and the markup on the rate that you often do not. Our yardstick is the mid-market rate: the midpoint between what the market bids and asks. Fee plus margin gives the real cost.
Each conversion is checked with several sample amounts since a fixed fee hurts more on small sums. Exchange rates are refreshed every 30 minutes; fees are taken from the published fee schedules. Promotions, account tiers and personal discounts are not always included, so your own offer may differ.
GoldexPay is independent. Affiliate links help pay for the site, but the ranking is based on cost alone. The cheaper option is shown as cheaper, full stop.
Why not use both?
Many people do not use one provider for everything. Plenty of users keep an account with both and choose per transfer. Opening an account is usually free, though identity verification can take a while.
For anything above everyday amounts, check the calculator on this page, as the result depends on the moment and the sum. It is a quick check that pays off.
Before you close an account, empty the balance, cancel any recurring payments and download your statements for your records.
Which one suits you?
If you mainly spend abroad on holiday, focus on card payments and cash withdrawals rather than bank transfers. Holding a balance in the local currency avoids converting at every purchase.
To send money to a bank account abroad, compare the received amount for your usual sum. With bigger sums, ask about limits and extra checks before you start.
If you want to buy crypto, check that crypto is supported at all, then compare spreads and withdrawal fees. Business users often need other features, such as multiple users and bulk payments. We compare costs only; this is not investment advice.
