EUR to HUF explained
This page brings together the price relationship between Euro (EUR) and Hungarian Forint (HUF) and compares it with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 31, 2026, 1 EUR buys 365.9156 HUF, while 1 HUF equals 0.00273287 EUR.
That headline number is the mid-market rate. It sits exactly halfway between what wholesale traders pay for EUR and what they ask for it. Treat it as a neutral benchmark: it contains no profit margin and no fees, which is exactly why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.
What you actually receive depends on two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and any fixed or percentage fee. In the sections below we take those costs apart, look at what a conversion costs in practice and list practical steps to get closer to the mid-market rate when you change EUR into HUF.
Euro against Hungarian Forint: the last twelve months
Across the last year, the exchange rate shows a change of -5.74%. In that period the rate peaked at 394.7738 HUF for one EUR, while the low point came in at 349.5843. The current 365.9156 is easy to place within that band.
The spread between the year’s extremes puts the movement into real terms. When you convert a substantial sum, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Exchange rates respond to news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
The countries behind EUR and HUF
Euro is used in Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Italy. Hungarian Forint is the official currency of Hungary. That is useful to know if you travel, shop online abroad or support someone in another country.
There are plenty of everyday reasons to convert EUR to HUF: moving abroad, studying, doing business or sending a gift. Not every situation needs the same solution: a single big transfer benefits most from a sharp rate, whereas frequent smaller payments suffer more from flat charges.
Payout methods vary from country to country. Account formats differ: IBAN in one place, account and routing numbers in another, and in some places payout to a mobile wallet is the norm. Check which details the provider needs before you start.
1,000.00 EUR to HUF, step by step
Let’s use a conversion of 1,000.00 EUR. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (365.9156), you can work out the upper limit of what any provider could deliver in HUF. No service pays out that exact figure, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.
Across the 9 providers in our comparison, Wise gave the best result, with 364,121.51 HUF after all costs. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Keep in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above and check whether the order changes.
Sending a larger amount from EUR to HUF
Make sure the provider is licensed. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Larger transfers often come with additional questions. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, like a statement or a sales contract. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
How our EUR/HUF comparison works
We start from the live mid-market rate for EUR/HUF. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, and work out how much HUF the recipient would end up with. We do this for 9 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.
The figures refresh every half hour, so the page reflects the market of October 31, 2026. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation.
GoldexPay is independent. Some links on this page are affiliate links. The order is never affected by them: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
Paying less when you change EUR into HUF
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. What you want to know is the HUF amount after every cost, which combines the markup and the fee.
When you pay by card abroad, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Watch the timing as well. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It takes the guesswork out, but the target may never be reached.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Bundling smaller transfers means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
Bank transfer or money transfer service for HUF?
With a classic international transfer, the bank sends the payment through SWIFT. The money can pass through one or more correspondent banks, sometimes taking a fee at each step. Delivery usually takes one to several working days, and the final deduction is often only visible afterwards.
Dedicated providers take another route. They hold balances in both currencies, so your EUR stays in the EUR system and the recipient is paid in HUF from a local account. The result tends to be quicker and less expensive, with the final HUF amount fixed upfront.
Delivery time depends on several factors: how you pay, the time of day, cut-off times and bank holidays in both countries. New customers sometimes wait a little longer as the provider completes its checks. Get verified before you need to send if the money has to arrive on a set date.
What banks and apps really charge for EUR to HUF
Most providers will not give you the mid-market rate itself. Instead they shift the rate in their own favour and pocket the gap. That gap is called the exchange rate margin. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 EUR on every 100 EUR, without it ever appearing as a fee.
On top of the margin, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. This is usually a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad other banks along the route may take their own cut, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Take a close look at anything sold as commission-free. Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The only fair way to compare is the total amount that arrives in HUF for an identical EUR amount, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
