XAU to PLN explained
This overview brings together the price relationship between Gold (XAU) and Polish Zloty (PLN) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. On October 30, 2026, 1 XAU buys 15,563.36 PLN, while one PLN is worth 0.0000642535 XAU.
The figure at the top is the interbank mid rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy XAU and the price at which they sell it. Think of it as the cleanest reference you can get: no fee or margin is built in, so few consumer services pass it on unchanged.
The amount that lands in the other account comes down to two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Below the converter and chart we explain how those costs work, show how they add up on a real amount and give concrete ways to lose less on the exchange when you swap Gold for Polish Zloty.
Example: converting 0.2000 XAU
Take an amount of 0.2000 XAU. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (15,563.36), that sum sets the ceiling for what is possible on the PLN side. In reality every provider keeps something, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.
Across the 1 providers in our comparison, Revolut gave the best result and paid out 3,097.13 PLN at the time of our last update. The gap between 3,097.13 PLN and the theoretical maximum is what the conversion actually cost you.
Note that a different amount can produce a different winner. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, whereas a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Enter your own amount in the converter and check whether the order changes.
Tips for converting XAU to PLN
Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A small fee on its own says little when the margin is high. The fairest figure to compare is how much PLN arrives for your XAU, and that already includes both margin and fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, you may be asked whether to pay in XAU or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Always opt to pay in the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Timing can also matter. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. When there is no deadline, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once XAU/PLN reaches a level you choose. It saves you from checking the rate every day, though the target may never be reached.
The payment method matters as well. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Bundling smaller transfers also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
Larger transfers: what to check first
Make sure the provider is licensed. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own.
Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
For large amounts, expect extra checks. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.
About this comparison
We start from the live mid-market rate for XAU/PLN. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, and work out how much PLN the recipient would end up with. The comparison covers 1 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, since markets keep moving.
We are not owned by any provider. Some of the links are affiliate links. That never changes the ranking: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
How the XAU/PLN precious metal price works
Precious metals are quoted per troy ounce, which is about 31.1 grams. XAU is the code for gold, XAG for silver, XPT for platinum and XPD for palladium, so the metal behaves like one side of a currency pair. The figure above refers to one troy ounce.
That figure is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Coins and small bars cost more than spot, because of manufacturing and dealer costs. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.
There are different ways to hold metal. Keeping coins or bars yourself means arranging storage and insurance. Professional storage charges an annual fee but keeps the metal in your name. Funds and certificates follow the price without you owning a bar directly.
Check how tax applies as well. Within the EU investment gold usually carries no VAT, unlike most silver. This page shows the price and does not tell you whether to buy or sell.
Recent movement in the XAU/PLN rate
Over the past twelve months, the exchange rate moved by -12.22%. Within those twelve months the highest level was 19,305.79 PLN for one XAU, and the bottom of the range was 15,005.09. At 15,563.36, the rate today is easy to place within that band.
That range between high and low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. For a bigger amount, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
The rate reflects interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
Most providers stay away from the mid-market rate itself. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and keep the difference. That gap is called the spread. With a 2% markup, for instance, you lose roughly 2 XAU on every 100 XAU, without it ever appearing as a fee.
On top of the margin, many providers add a visible fee. It may be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or both at once. With international bank payments other banks along the route may take their own cut, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". The cost often sits in the rate instead. The reliable test is how much PLN the recipient ends up with for an identical XAU amount, which is how the table above is sorted.
