Bitcoin to Norwegian Krone: what you are looking at

This page tracks the rate for Bitcoin (BTC) and Norwegian Krone (NOK), together with the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. At the latest update on October 30, 2026, 1 BTC equals 708,688.31 NOK, and 1 NOK equals 0.0000014111 BTC.

That headline number is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is calculated as the middle of what wholesale traders pay for BTC and what they ask for it. Treat it as a neutral benchmark: nobody earns anything on it directly, so you rarely get it as a private customer.

What ends up on the NOK side depends on two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Further down we show how those costs are built up, show how they add up on a real amount and list practical steps to get closer to the mid-market rate when converting BTC to NOK.

Why we compare total cost

Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 708,688.31. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, which gives the amount the recipient receives. We do this for 1 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.

We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, and it can differ slightly from our calculation.

We are not owned by any provider. Some of the links are affiliate links. That never changes the ranking: the provider that delivers the most NOK comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.

How BTC/NOK moved over the past year

Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate shows a change of -36.20%. In that period the highest level was 1,117,880.74 NOK per BTC, while the lowest was 570,643.58. At 708,688.31, the rate today sits somewhere inside that range.

The spread between the year’s extremes is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. For a bigger amount, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, even when the fee stays the same.

Rates are pushed around by interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you want to act on a certain rate, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.

Sample calculation for 0.0100 BTC

Consider a transfer of 0.0100 BTC. At the mid-market rate of 708,688.31, you can work out the upper limit of what any provider could deliver in NOK. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, because margins and fees come off first.

Looking at all 1 providers we track, Revolut came out cheapest for this amount: the recipient gets 6,981.29 NOK in the end. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.

Note that a different amount can produce a different winner. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, whereas a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Run your own figure through the converter for a ranking that fits your situation.

Crypto spreads, network fees and custody

Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On an exchange with an order book, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, on top of a maker or taker fee. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price which hides a wider spread.

If you withdraw coins to a wallet, a network fee applies. That fee does not depend on the amount, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Always check which network a platform uses: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.

The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, and on large orders the execution price can slip. Treat the figure above as an indication.

Also decide who holds the keys. On a platform, someone else manages the private keys, whereas a personal wallet puts the responsibility, and the risk of losing access, on you. Check that a platform is registered or licensed with a financial regulator where you live.

Practical ways to save on BTC/NOK

Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The number that matters is the NOK amount after every cost, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.

At foreign tills and cash machines, you may be asked whether to pay in BTC or in the local currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It tends to be among the most expensive ways to convert. Always opt to pay in the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Timing can also matter. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. When there is no deadline, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once BTC/NOK reaches a level you choose. It saves you from checking the rate every day, but the target may never be reached.

The payment method matters as well. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer reduces what you pay in flat fees.

Where the cost of converting BTC to NOK hides

The majority of services do not convert at the mid-market rate itself. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and earn on the difference. This is known as the markup. With a 2% markup, for instance, for every 100 BTC you convert, about 2 BTC worth disappears before the money arrives.

Besides the hidden margin, most banks ask for a separate fee. That can be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. With international bank payments the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Look twice at anything sold as commission-free. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The reliable test is the final NOK figure for the same amount of BTC, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.

Before you send: security and large amounts

Make sure the provider is licensed. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds and that offers protection if the company fails.

Check names and account details twice. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.

For large amounts, expect extra checks. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, like a statement or a sales contract. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
