EUR to XAG at a glance

This page brings together the exchange rate between Euro (EUR) and Silver (XAG), together with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. As of October 30, 2026, 1 EUR buys 0.022632 XAG, while 1 XAG equals 44.1851 EUR.

The figure at the top is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It sits exactly halfway between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. It works as a neutral benchmark: no fee or margin is built in, so you rarely get it as a private customer.

The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two separate costs: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the visible transfer or service fee. In the sections below we explain how those costs work, look at what a conversion costs in practice and list practical steps to lose less on the exchange when you swap Euro for Silver.

How to get a better EUR to XAG rate

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The number that matters is how much XAG arrives for your EUR, which combines margin and fee.

When you pay by card abroad, you may be asked whether to pay in EUR or in the local currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It tends to be among the most expensive ways to convert. Always opt to pay in the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.

Timing plays a role too. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. For transfers that can wait, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. That avoids guessing, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

The payment method matters as well. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Sending less often but in larger amounts means fixed charges hit you fewer times.

Precious metals priced in currency: EUR/XAG

Precious metals are quoted per troy ounce, equal to roughly 31.1 grams. In currency notation, gold is XAU, silver XAG, platinum XPT and palladium XPD, which is why they appear here like any other currency. The figure above refers to one troy ounce.

That figure is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Buy a coin or small bar and you pay a premium on top, covering minting, handling and the dealer’s margin. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.

You can own precious metals in several forms. Storing metal at home brings its own risks and costs. Vault storage through a dealer charges an annual fee but keeps the metal in your name. Exchange-traded products give exposure to the price, not always to the metal itself.

Tax rules also differ. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. The information here is meant as background, not as advice.

Larger transfers: what to check first

Check the provider’s licence first. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own.

Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, like a statement or a sales contract. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.

Mid-market rate versus the rate you get

Nearly every bank and app do not convert at the rate of 0.022632 itself. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and pocket the gap. People call this the markup. If the margin is 2%, then about 2 out of every 100 EUR never reach the recipient.

On top of the margin, many providers ask for a separate fee. That can be a fixed amount per transfer, a share of what you send or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Be wary of services that advertise free transfers. Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The only fair way to compare is the total amount that arrives in XAG for the same amount of EUR, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.

1,000.00 EUR to XAG, step by step

Consider an amount of 1,000.00 EUR. Using the reference rate of 0.022632, you can work out the upper limit of what is possible on the XAG side. No service pays out that exact figure, because margins and fees come off first.

Of the 5 providers we compared, Revolut delivered the most, with 22.52 XAG after all costs. The gap between 22.52 XAG and the theoretical maximum is the real price of the transfer.

Bear in mind that a different amount can produce a different winner. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, whereas a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Run your own figure through the converter and check whether the order changes.

How GoldexPay compares EUR to XAG providers

Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 0.022632. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, to calculate what actually arrives in XAG. We do this for 5 providers, ranked from most to least received.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. The final price is always set by the provider itself, because their rate can move between our updates, especially when markets are busy.

We are not owned by any provider. Some links on this page are affiliate links. They have no influence on the order: the provider that delivers the most XAG comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.

How EUR/XAG moved over the past year

Over the past twelve months, the exchange rate shows a change of +49.15%. In that period the top of the range was 0.022632 XAG for one EUR, while the lowest was 0.013105. Today’s rate of 0.022632 can be measured against those two levels.

The distance between the high and the low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. When you convert a substantial sum, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. The statistics here are historical, not a forecast. If you are waiting for a particular level, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
