XPT to CHF: rate, costs and context

The page you are reading tracks the price relationship between Platinum (XPT) and Swiss Franc (CHF) and sets it next to the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. As of October 30, 2026, 1 XPT buys 1,180.65 CHF, while 1 CHF equals 0.00084699 XPT.

That headline number is the interbank mid rate. It is the midpoint between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Treat it as a neutral benchmark: no fee or margin is built in, which is exactly why you rarely get it as a private customer.

The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two things: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we show how those costs are built up, show how they add up on a real amount and share simple habits to get closer to the mid-market rate when you swap Platinum for Swiss Franc.

Safety checks before you convert XPT to CHF

Make sure the provider is licensed. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds and that offers protection if the company fails.

Check names and account details twice. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.

Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, like a statement or a sales contract. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.

Practical ways to save on XPT/CHF

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. What you want to know is how much CHF arrives for your XPT, which combines the markup and the fee.

If you pay or withdraw cash in a CHF country, you may be asked whether to pay in XPT or in the local currency. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once XPT/CHF reaches a level you choose. It takes the guesswork out, though the target may never be reached.

The payment method matters as well. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Bundling smaller transfers reduces what you pay in flat fees.

Example: converting 0.5000 XPT

Let’s use a transfer of 0.5000 XPT. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (1,180.65), that sum sets the ceiling for what the recipient could get. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, because margins and fees come off first.

Of the 1 providers we compared, Bitpanda gave the best result and paid out 582.94 CHF at the time of our last update. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount is the real price of the transfer.

Note that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, whereas the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above to see the ranking that applies to you.

Reading a gold or silver price

Precious metals are quoted per troy ounce, equal to roughly 31.1 grams. In currency notation, gold is XAU, silver XAG, platinum XPT and palladium XPD, so the metal behaves like one side of a currency pair. The figure above refers to one troy ounce.

That figure is the spot price: the price professionals pay for large quantities. Retail products carry a premium above that price, to pay for production, distribution and the seller’s margin. Selling back typically happens below the spot price.

Ownership comes in more than one shape. Storing metal at home brings its own risks and costs. Vault storage through a dealer comes with storage costs but takes care of security. Funds and certificates follow the price without you owning a bar directly.

Taxes can change the picture. Across the EU, investment gold is normally VAT-free, but silver is generally taxed. This page shows the price and does not tell you whether to buy or sell.

How we rank providers for XPT to CHF

Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, and work out how much CHF the recipient would end up with. In total 1 providers are included, so you can see the differences at a glance.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, because their rate can move between our updates.

No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help fund our work. The order is never affected by them: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.

Recent movement in the XPT/CHF rate

Over the past twelve months, the XPT/CHF rate moved by -25.89%. Within those twelve months the top of the range was 1,849.76 CHF for one XPT, while the low point came in at 1,180.65. The current 1,180.65 is easy to place within that band.

That range between high and low puts the movement into real terms. On a large conversion, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, occasionally more than the difference between providers.

Exchange rates respond to news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.

Mid-market rate versus the rate you get

Nearly every bank and app do not convert at the mid-market rate itself. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and earn on the difference. People call this the markup. If the margin is 2%, then about 2 out of every 100 XPT never reach the recipient.

Next to that markup, most banks add a visible fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network other banks along the route may take their own cut, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.

Look twice at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is the total amount that arrives in CHF for exactly the same sum, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.
