The figure at the top is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It sits exactly halfway between the price at which large banks buy XRP and the price at which they sell it. Treat it as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, and that is why you rarely get it as a private customer.

What you actually receive depends on two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we show how those costs are built up, put them side by side and list practical steps to lose less on the exchange when you change XRP into ADA.

Let’s use an amount of 1,000.00 XRP. At the mid-market rate of 6.4553, you can work out the upper limit of what any provider could deliver in ADA. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.

Converting XRP to ADA as a crypto pair

With crypto, the price you pay depends heavily on where you trade. On a trading platform, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, plus a trading fee. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price that has the cost baked in.

Withdrawing crypto from a platform, you pay a network or withdrawal fee. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Double-check the network before you send: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.

Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, while large trades risk slippage. The rate on this page is a reference point, not a guaranteed price.

Custody is another point to consider. On a platform, someone else manages the private keys, while in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Check that a platform is registered or licensed with a financial regulator where you live.

How providers price XRP to ADA

Nearly every bank and app will not give you the mid-market rate itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and keep the difference. That gap is called the markup. If the margin is 2%, then about 2 out of every 100 XRP never reach the recipient.

Next to that markup, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. That can be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. With international bank payments extra deductions can follow, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The reliable test is how much ADA the recipient ends up with for the same amount of XRP, and that is the figure our table ranks on.

Safety checks before you convert XRP to ADA

Check the provider’s licence first. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.

Check names and account details twice. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.

Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.

Recent movement in the XRP/ADA rate

Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate shows a change of +59.03%. Within those twelve months the top of the range was 7.3306 ADA per XRP, and the low point came in at 4.0099. Today’s rate of 6.4553 can be measured against those two levels.

That range between high and low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

Exchange rates respond to news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.

Paying less when you change XRP into ADA

Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A low headline fee proves nothing if the rate is poor. The fairest figure to compare is the amount received, which combines the markup and the fee.

At foreign tills and cash machines, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Timing can also matter. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. If you are not in a hurry, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once XRP/ADA reaches a level you choose. That avoids guessing, but the target may never be reached.

Also check how you fund the transfer. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Bundling smaller transfers means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
