Canadian Dollar to Indian Rupee: what you are looking at

This page tracks the rate for Canadian Dollar (CAD) and Indian Rupee (INR) and compares it with what real providers charge to convert one into the other. On October 30, 2026, 1 CAD buys 67.9997 INR, while one INR comes to 0.014706 CAD.

The rate shown above is the mid-market rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy CAD and the price at which they sell it. Treat it as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, so you rarely get it as a private customer.

What ends up on the INR side is shaped by two separate costs: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Further down we explain how those costs work, put them side by side and give concrete ways to get closer to the mid-market rate when you swap Canadian Dollar for Indian Rupee.

The countries behind CAD and INR

Canadian Dollar is the currency of Canada. Indian Rupee is what people pay with in India. Knowing this helps if you travel, shop online abroad or support someone in another country.

People convert CAD to INR for many reasons: rent or a mortgage abroad, tuition fees, a salary paid in another currency, savings or a holiday. Each situation asks for something different: a one-off large payment benefits most from a sharp rate, while regular small amounts are more sensitive to fixed fees.

Each country has its own payment habits. Depending on the country, you need an IBAN, a local account number or a mobile wallet and in certain countries cash pickup or mobile money is common. Ask the recipient for the exact details in advance.

Exchange rate markup and fees on CAD/INR

Most providers stay away from the mid-market rate itself. Instead they offer a rate that is a little less favourable and pocket the gap. This is known as the spread. If the margin is 2%, then about 2 out of every 100 CAD never reach the recipient.

Next to that markup, most banks charge an explicit fee. It may be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Look twice at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. What really counts is how much INR the recipient ends up with for an identical CAD amount, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.

SWIFT versus local payout for CAD to INR

A traditional bank sends your payment over the SWIFT network. Along the way one or more intermediary banks may handle it, each of which can deduct a charge. It typically arrives within a few working days, and the exact cost is not always clear in advance.

Dedicated providers take another route. They have local accounts on both sides, so your CAD stays in the CAD system and the recipient is paid in INR from a local account. That is often faster and cheaper, and the amount that arrives is known in advance.

Speed is not down to the provider alone: funding method, verification and holidays in the sending and receiving country. A first transfer can take longer because the provider has to verify your identity. Finish verification in advance if timing is tight.

Safety checks before you convert CAD to INR

Check the provider’s licence first. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own, which protects you if something goes wrong.

Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign. Verify through a channel you trust.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.

How our CAD/INR comparison works

Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 67.9997. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, which gives the amount the recipient receives. The comparison covers 8 providers, ranked from most to least received.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, with October 30, 2026 as the reference date. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.

We are not owned by any provider. We may earn a commission through some links. They have no influence on the order: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.

Paying less when you change CAD into INR

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little because the margin can make up the difference. The fairest figure to compare is the INR amount after every cost, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.

If you pay or withdraw cash in a INR country, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. That avoids guessing, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Also check how you fund the transfer. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer also cuts the impact of fixed fees.

One year of CAD to INR

Over the past twelve months, the CAD/INR rate has changed by +7.43%. In that period the highest level was 70.3391 INR per CAD, and the bottom of the range was 62.7423. The current 67.9997 is easy to place within that band.

The spread between the year’s extremes puts the movement into real terms. For a bigger amount, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, even when the fee stays the same.

The rate reflects central bank policy, economic data and shifts in risk appetite. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If you want to act on a certain rate, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.

Sample calculation for 1,000.00 CAD

Consider a conversion of 1,000.00 CAD. At the mid-market rate of 67.9997, you can work out the upper limit of what the recipient could get. In reality every provider keeps something, because margins and fees come off first.

Looking at all 8 providers we track, Revolut came out cheapest for this amount and paid out 67,659.65 INR after all costs. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount is the real price of the transfer.

Keep in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Run your own figure through the converter for a ranking that fits your situation.
