Swiss Franc to Polish Zloty: rate, costs and context

The page you are reading follows the price relationship between Swiss Franc (CHF) and Polish Zloty (PLN) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. At the latest update on October 30, 2026, 1 CHF buys 4.7811 PLN, while one PLN equals 0.209156 CHF.

That headline number is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It sits exactly halfway between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Think of it as the cleanest reference you can get: it contains no profit margin and no fees, which is exactly why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.

The amount that lands in the other account comes down to two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Below the converter and chart we show how those costs are built up, look at what a conversion costs in practice and give concrete ways to get closer to the mid-market rate when you change CHF into PLN.

Where the cost of converting CHF to PLN hides

Nearly every bank and app stay away from the rate of 4.7811 as such. They quote a slightly worse rate and pocket the gap. People call this the markup. If the margin is 2%, then you lose roughly 2 CHF on every 100 CHF, without it ever appearing as a fee.

Besides the hidden margin, most banks charge an explicit fee. This is usually a flat charge per payment, a share of what you send or both at once. On classic bank transfers abroad extra deductions can follow, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.

Take a close look at anything sold as commission-free. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is how much PLN the recipient ends up with for the same amount of CHF, which is how the table above is sorted.

Swiss Franc against Polish Zloty: the last twelve months

Across the last year, the CHF/PLN rate moved by +4.56%. Within those twelve months the rate peaked at 4.7811 PLN for one CHF, while the low point came in at 4.5063. The current 4.7811 is easy to place within that band.

The spread between the year’s extremes shows how much the rate can move in practice. For a bigger amount, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.

CHF and PLN around the world

Swiss Franc is the legal tender in Switzerland, Liechtenstein. Polish Zloty is the official currency of Poland. That is useful to know when you plan a trip, pay an invoice or send money to family.

People convert CHF to PLN for many reasons: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. What suits one case may not suit another: a one-off large payment calls for the best rate, while frequent smaller payments suffer more from flat charges.

The way money is paid out also differs per country. Depending on the country, you need an IBAN, a local account number or a mobile wallet and in certain countries cash pickup or mobile money is common. Have the recipient’s full details ready before you begin.

Before you send: security and large amounts

Make sure the provider is licensed. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own.

Check names and account details twice. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign. Verify through a channel you trust.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.

Paying less when you change CHF into PLN

Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A small fee on its own says little when the margin is high. What you want to know is how much PLN arrives for your CHF, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.

When you pay by card abroad, you may be asked whether to pay in CHF or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Timing can also matter. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It takes the guesswork out, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Finally, look at how you pay. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer also cuts the impact of fixed fees.

Bank transfer or money transfer service for PLN?

Your regular bank usually sends the money through SWIFT. Your transfer may hop between several banks before it arrives, sometimes taking a fee at each step. Expect anything from one to a few working days, and the final deduction is often only visible afterwards.

Dedicated providers take another route. They hold balances in both currencies, so no money physically crosses the border: you pay in locally and the recipient is paid out locally. This usually cuts both time and cost, and the amount that arrives is known in advance.

Speed is not down to the provider alone: your payment method, cut-off times and public holidays on either side. The very first payment may be slower while identity checks are done. Get verified before you need to send if the money has to arrive on a set date.

About this comparison

We start from the live mid-market rate for CHF/PLN. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, and work out how much PLN the recipient would end up with. We do this for 9 providers, ranked from most to least received.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. The final price is always set by the provider itself, since markets keep moving.

GoldexPay is independent. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help fund our work. The order is never affected by them: providers are sorted purely by how much PLN the recipient gets.

1,000.00 CHF to PLN, step by step

Take an amount of 1,000.00 CHF. At the mid-market rate of 4.7811, that marks the theoretical maximum of what any provider could deliver in PLN. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.

Looking at all 9 providers we track, Wise delivered the most: the recipient gets 4,757.84 PLN in the end. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount is what the conversion actually cost you.

Keep in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above and check whether the order changes.
