The PLN/CHF exchange rate at a glance
This page brings together the rate for Polish Zloty (PLN) and Swiss Franc (CHF) and sets it next to the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. On October 30, 2026, 1 PLN equals 0.209156 CHF, while one CHF is worth 4.7811 PLN.
That headline number is the interbank mid rate. It sits exactly halfway between what wholesale traders pay for PLN and what they ask for it. It works as a fair reference point: nobody earns anything on it directly, which is exactly why consumers almost never receive it in full.
The amount that lands in the other account comes down to two separate costs: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Below the converter and chart we show how those costs are built up, put them side by side and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when converting PLN to CHF.
The countries behind PLN and CHF
Polish Zloty is the money you pay with in Poland. Swiss Franc is the official currency of Switzerland, Liechtenstein. This matters if you travel, shop online abroad or support someone in another country.
The reasons for changing PLN into CHF vary: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. What suits one case may not suit another: a one-off large payment benefits most from a sharp rate, while frequent smaller payments are more sensitive to fixed fees.
Payout methods vary from country to country. Depending on the country, you need an IBAN, a local account number or a mobile wallet, and in some places cash pickup or mobile money is common. Check which details the provider needs before you start.
Choosing a route to send CHF
With a classic international transfer, the bank sends the payment through SWIFT. The money can pass through one or more correspondent banks, sometimes taking a fee at each step. Delivery usually takes one to several working days, with the full cost not always known upfront.
Dedicated providers take another route. They keep money in accounts in both regions, so no money physically crosses the border: you pay in locally and the recipient is paid out locally. This usually cuts both time and cost, and the amount that arrives is known in advance.
Delivery time depends on several factors: your payment method, cut-off times and public holidays on either side. A first transfer can take longer while identity checks are done. Get verified before you need to send when a deadline is involved.
Getting the most CHF for your PLN
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The number that matters is the amount received, which combines margin and fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a CHF country, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Timing can also matter. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. If you are not in a hurry, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. That avoids guessing, but the target may never be reached.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Bundling smaller transfers reduces what you pay in flat fees.
The PLN/CHF rate over twelve months
Compared with a year ago, the price of PLN in CHF shows a change of -4.36%. Within those twelve months the highest level was 0.221912 CHF for one PLN, and the bottom of the range was 0.209156. The current 0.209156 sits somewhere inside that range.
That range between high and low puts the movement into real terms. On a large conversion, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you want to act on a certain rate, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
The majority of services will not give you the mid-market rate itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and pocket the gap. People call this the exchange rate margin. With a 2% markup, for instance, for every 100 PLN you convert, about 2 PLN worth disappears before the money arrives.
Next to that markup, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. It may be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or both at once. With international bank payments extra deductions can follow, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Look twice at anything sold as commission-free. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The reliable test is the total amount that arrives in CHF for an identical PLN amount, which is how the table above is sorted.
Before you send: security and large amounts
Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Verify every detail of the recipient. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.
Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
Why we compare total cost
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 0.209156. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, which gives the amount the recipient receives. The comparison covers 9 providers, ranked from most to least received.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, because their rate can move between our updates.
No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help fund our work. The order is never affected by them: providers are sorted purely by how much CHF the recipient gets.
Example: converting 5,000.00 PLN
Take an amount of 5,000.00 PLN. Using the reference rate of 0.209156, that marks the theoretical maximum of what any provider could deliver in CHF. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.
Looking at all 9 providers we track, Wise delivered the most and paid out 1,040.70 CHF after all costs. The gap between 1,040.70 CHF and the theoretical maximum is the real price of the transfer.
Bear in mind that the cheapest provider for 5,000.00 PLN is not automatically the cheapest for every amount. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Run your own figure through the converter for a ranking that fits your situation.
