The ETH/XAU exchange rate explained
The page you are reading brings together the rate for Ethereum (ETH) and Gold (XAU) and compares it with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 30, 2026, 1 ETH equals 0.566130 XAU, while a single XAU equals 1.7664 ETH.
That headline number is the interbank mid rate. It is the midpoint between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Treat it as a neutral benchmark: nobody earns anything on it directly, and that is why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.
The amount that lands in the other account comes down to two things: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we explain how those costs work, put them side by side and share simple habits to get closer to the mid-market rate when you change ETH into XAU.
Where the cost of converting ETH to XAU hides
Nearly every bank and app do not convert at the mid-market rate as such. They quote a slightly worse rate and earn on the difference. This is known as the markup. With a 2% markup, for instance, about 2 out of every 100 ETH never reach the recipient.
On top of the margin, many providers ask for a separate fee. That can be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is the final XAU figure for exactly the same sum, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
Sending a larger amount from ETH to XAU
Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds.
Verify every detail of the recipient. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
How ETH/XAU moved over the past year
Over the past twelve months, the price of ETH in XAU shows a change of +34.53%. Within those twelve months the top of the range was 0.657568 XAU for one ETH, while the lowest was 0.356374. The current 0.566130 sits somewhere inside that range.
That range between high and low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Exchange rates respond to central bank policy, economic data and shifts in risk appetite. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
How to get a better ETH to XAU rate
Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A low headline fee proves nothing if the rate is poor. The number that matters is how much XAU arrives for your ETH, which combines the markup and the fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It tends to be among the most expensive ways to convert. Choose the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.
Timing plays a role too. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. That avoids guessing, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
Converting ETH to XAU as a crypto pair
Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On an exchange with an order book, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, and a commission per trade. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price which hides a wider spread.
Withdrawing crypto from a platform, a network fee applies. That fee does not depend on the amount, so it weighs more on small transactions. Double-check the network before you send: mistakes here are rarely reversible.
Crypto prices can move sharply within minutes. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, and big orders can fill at a worse price than shown. Treat the figure above as an indication.
Also decide who holds the keys. On a platform, someone else manages the private keys, while in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Use platforms that are registered with the regulator in your country.
How GoldexPay compares ETH to XAU providers
We start from the live mid-market rate for ETH/XAU. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, which gives the amount the recipient receives. We do this for 0 providers, ranked from most to least received.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation.
No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help fund our work. They have no influence on the order: providers are sorted purely by how much XAU the recipient gets.
How the ETH/XAU precious metal price works
The standard unit for metals is the troy ounce, slightly heavier than a regular ounce, at around 31.1 grams. XAU is the code for gold, XAG for silver, XPT for platinum and XPD for palladium, and they are treated like a currency in this pair. The figure above refers to one troy ounce.
What you see is the spot price: the market price for big bars traded between dealers. Buy a coin or small bar and you pay a premium on top, because of manufacturing and dealer costs. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.
There are different ways to hold metal. Keeping coins or bars yourself means arranging storage and insurance. Professional storage comes with storage costs but takes care of security. Paper products track the price but do not always give you physical metal.
Tax rules also differ. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. The information here is meant as background, not as advice.
