Hungarian Forint to Silver: rate, costs and context
This overview follows the exchange rate between Hungarian Forint (HUF) and Silver (XAG) and compares it with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 30, 2026, 1 HUF equals 0.0000618504 XAG, while 1 XAG comes to 16,168.03 HUF.
The figure at the top is the mid-market rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy HUF and the price at which they sell it. It works as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, and that is why you rarely get it as a private customer.
What ends up on the XAG side depends on two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the fee you see on the order screen. In the sections below we take those costs apart, look at what a conversion costs in practice and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when converting HUF to XAG.
One year of HUF to XAG
Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate moved by +54.08%. In that period the rate peaked at 0.0000618504 XAG per HUF, while the low point came in at 0.0000339471. Today’s rate of 0.0000618504 can be measured against those two levels.
The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. For a bigger amount, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
Rates are pushed around by interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If you are waiting for a particular level, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
Staying safe with bigger HUF to XAG transfers
Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details. Verify through a channel you trust.
For large amounts, expect extra checks. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
Reading a gold or silver price
Gold and silver prices are expressed per troy ounce, slightly heavier than a regular ounce, at around 31.1 grams. XAU is the code for gold, XAG for silver, XPT for platinum and XPD for palladium, and they are treated like a currency in this pair. The figure above refers to one troy ounce.
What you see is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Coins and small bars cost more than spot, because of manufacturing and dealer costs. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.
There are different ways to hold metal. Keeping coins or bars yourself means arranging storage and insurance. An allocated vault account costs a yearly fee, with the metal registered to you. Exchange-traded products give exposure to the price, not always to the metal itself.
Tax rules also differ. Across the EU, investment gold is normally VAT-free, but silver is generally taxed. The information here is meant as background, not as advice.
Practical ways to save on HUF/XAG
Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A small fee on its own says little because the margin can make up the difference. The number that matters is how much XAG arrives for your HUF, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, you may be asked whether to pay in HUF or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Timing can also matter. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. If you are not in a hurry, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It saves you from checking the rate every day, though the target may never be reached.
Finally, look at how you pay. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
Where the cost of converting HUF to XAG hides
The majority of services will not give you the rate of 0.0000618504 itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and keep the difference. People call this the exchange rate margin. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 HUF on every 100 HUF, without it ever appearing as a fee.
On top of the margin, most banks add a visible fee. It may be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. With international bank payments extra deductions can follow, and those only show up at the end.
Take a close look at services that advertise free transfers. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. What really counts is how much XAG the recipient ends up with for an identical HUF amount, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
How we rank providers for HUF to XAG
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, and work out how much XAG the recipient would end up with. The comparison covers 0 providers, ranked from most to least received.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. The final price is always set by the provider itself, since markets keep moving, especially when markets are busy.
GoldexPay is independent. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help fund our work. They have no influence on the order: providers are sorted purely by how much XAG the recipient gets.
