The JPY/ADA exchange rate: what you are looking at
This overview follows the exchange rate between Japanese Yen (JPY) and Cardano (ADA), together with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. At the latest update on October 30, 2026, one JPY is worth 0.032725 ADA, and a single ADA equals 30.5577 JPY.
The figure at the top is the interbank mid rate. It is the midpoint between what wholesale traders pay for JPY and what they ask for it. Treat it as a fair reference point: no fee or margin is built in, so you rarely get it as a private customer.
The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two things: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Further down we show how those costs are built up, show how they add up on a real amount and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when you change JPY into ADA.
The JPY/ADA rate over twelve months
Across the last year, the exchange rate has changed by +223.27%. In that period the rate peaked at 0.043055 ADA for one JPY, while the bottom of the range was 0.010123. The current 0.032725 is easy to place within that band.
The spread between the year’s extremes shows how much the rate can move in practice. When you convert a substantial sum, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
What to know about JPY/ADA on crypto platforms
Crypto prices differ from platform to platform. On an exchange with an order book, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, and a commission per trade. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price which hides a wider spread.
If you withdraw coins to a wallet, a network fee applies. That fee does not depend on the amount, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Make sure the sending and receiving side use the same network: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.
Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. A quote is often only valid for a short moment, while large trades risk slippage. The rate on this page is a reference point, not a guaranteed price.
Think about custody as well. If you leave crypto on a platform, the platform controls it, whereas self-custody means you alone can access, or lose, the funds. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.
How to get a better JPY to ADA rate
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive because the margin can make up the difference. What you want to know is the amount received, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a ADA country, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.
Timing plays a role too. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It takes the guesswork out, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
Safety checks before you convert JPY to ADA
Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
Example: converting 200,000.00 JPY
Consider a conversion of 200,000.00 JPY. At the mid-market rate of 0.032725, you can work out the upper limit of what the recipient could get. No service pays out that exact figure, because margins and fees come off first.
Looking at all 2 providers we track, Kraken delivered the most, with 6,515.57 ADA at the time of our last update. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Keep in mind that a different amount can produce a different winner. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, whereas the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above to see the ranking that applies to you.
Where the cost of converting JPY to ADA hides
Most providers stay away from the mid-market rate as such. They offer a rate that is a little less favourable and earn on the difference. This is known as the exchange rate margin. A markup of 2%, for example, means that for every 100 JPY you convert, about 2 JPY worth disappears before the money arrives.
Besides the hidden margin, many providers add a visible fee. That can be a flat charge per payment, a share of what you send or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network other banks along the route may take their own cut, and those only show up at the end.
Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". The cost often sits in the rate instead. What really counts is the total amount that arrives in ADA for exactly the same sum, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
Why we compare total cost
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, to calculate what actually arrives in ADA. In total 2 providers are included, ranked from most to least received.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation.
We are not owned by any provider. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help pay for the site. The order is never affected by them: providers are sorted purely by how much ADA the recipient gets.
