Norwegian Krone to Polish Zloty: what you are looking at
This overview follows the exchange rate between Norwegian Krone (NOK) and Polish Zloty (PLN) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. As of October 30, 2026, 1 NOK equals 0.426764 PLN, and a single PLN comes to 2.3432 NOK.
The figure at the top is the mid-market rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy NOK and the price at which they sell it. Treat it as a fair reference point: it contains no profit margin and no fees, which is exactly why consumers almost never receive it in full.
The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Further down we show how those costs are built up, show how they add up on a real amount and give concrete ways to lose less on the exchange when converting NOK to PLN.
About this comparison
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 0.426764. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, to calculate what actually arrives in PLN. In total 9 providers are included, so you can see the differences at a glance.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, with October 30, 2026 as the reference date. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.
GoldexPay is independent. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help fund our work. The order is never affected by them: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
Most providers stay away from the mid-market rate itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and keep the difference. This is known as the spread. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 NOK on every 100 NOK, without it ever appearing as a fee.
On top of the margin, most banks charge an explicit fee. It may be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. What really counts is the final PLN figure for the same amount of NOK, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
Before you send: security and large amounts
Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds and that offers protection if the company fails.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
What 10,000.00 NOK gets you in PLN
Take an amount of 10,000.00 NOK. At the mid-market rate of 0.426764, that sum sets the ceiling for what is possible on the PLN side. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.
Looking at all 9 providers we track, Wise gave the best result and paid out 4,246.67 PLN at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount is what the conversion actually cost you.
Note that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Run your own figure through the converter for a ranking that fits your situation.
The countries behind NOK and PLN
Norwegian Krone is the currency of Norway. Polish Zloty is used in Poland. That is useful to know when you plan a trip, pay an invoice or send money to family.
There are plenty of everyday reasons to convert NOK to PLN: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. What suits one case may not suit another: a single big transfer calls for the best rate, whereas frequent smaller payments are more sensitive to fixed fees.
Each country has its own payment habits. Depending on the country, you need an IBAN, a local account number or a mobile wallet and in certain countries payout to a mobile wallet is the norm. Check which details the provider needs before you start.
Practical ways to save on NOK/PLN
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. The number that matters is how much PLN arrives for your NOK, and that already includes both margin and fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, you may be asked whether to pay in NOK or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Always opt to pay in the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Watch the timing as well. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Bundling smaller transfers reduces what you pay in flat fees.
Bank transfer or money transfer service for PLN?
A traditional bank sends your payment over the SWIFT network. Along the way one or more intermediary banks may handle it, and each can take a fee. Expect anything from one to a few working days, with the full cost not always known upfront.
Dedicated providers take another route. They have local accounts on both sides, which means your payment and the payout both happen domestically. That is often faster and cheaper, and the amount that arrives is known in advance.
Delivery time depends on several factors: your payment method, cut-off times and public holidays on either side. A first transfer can take longer because the provider has to verify your identity. Upload your documents early if the money has to arrive on a set date.
Recent movement in the NOK/PLN rate
Across the last year, the exchange rate moved by +17.30%. Within those twelve months the top of the range was 0.426764 PLN for one NOK, while the bottom of the range was 0.351251. The current 0.426764 can be measured against those two levels.
That range between high and low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Exchange rates respond to interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
