Silver to Hong Kong Dollar at a glance

This overview brings together the rate for Silver (XAG) and Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), together with the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. At the latest update on October 31, 2026, 1 XAG equals 387.1638 HKD, while a single HKD equals 0.00258289 XAG.

The figure at the top is the mid-market rate. It is calculated as the middle of the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Treat it as a fair reference point: no fee or margin is built in, and that is why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.

What ends up on the HKD side depends on two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Below the converter and chart we explain how those costs work, show how they add up on a real amount and give concrete ways to lose less on the exchange when you swap Silver for Hong Kong Dollar.

How XAG/HKD moved over the past year

Over the past twelve months, the XAG/HKD rate shows a change of -36.30%. In that period the rate peaked at 699.8581 HKD for one XAG, while the lowest was 387.1638. The current 387.1638 sits somewhere inside that range.

The spread between the year’s extremes shows how much the rate can move in practice. When you convert a substantial sum, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

Exchange rates respond to news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If you want to act on a certain rate, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.

Precious metals priced in currency: XAG/HKD

The standard unit for metals is the troy ounce, equal to roughly 31.1 grams. In currency notation, gold is XAU, silver XAG, platinum XPT and palladium XPD, so the metal behaves like one side of a currency pair. The rate shown is the price of one troy ounce.

What you see is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Coins and small bars cost more than spot, covering minting, handling and the dealer’s margin. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.

There are different ways to hold metal. Storing metal at home brings its own risks and costs. An allocated vault account charges an annual fee but keeps the metal in your name. Exchange-traded products give exposure to the price, not always to the metal itself.

Check how tax applies as well. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. We show prices, not investment advice.

How we rank providers for XAG to HKD

Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, which gives the amount the recipient receives. We do this for 0 providers, ranked from most to least received.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 31, 2026. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.

GoldexPay is independent. Some links on this page are affiliate links. That never changes the ranking: the provider that delivers the most HKD comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.

Getting the most HKD for your XAG

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little because the margin can make up the difference. What you want to know is how much HKD arrives for your XAG, and that already includes both margin and fee.

At foreign tills and cash machines, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Choose the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.

Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It saves you from checking the rate every day, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Finally, look at how you pay. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts also cuts the impact of fixed fees.

Where the cost of converting XAG to HKD hides

Nearly every bank and app do not convert at the rate of 387.1638 as such. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and keep the difference. People call this the exchange rate margin. If the margin is 2%, then about 2 out of every 100 XAG never reach the recipient.

Besides the hidden margin, most banks add a visible fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is the final HKD figure for the same amount of XAG, and that is the figure our table ranks on.

Sending a larger amount from XAG to HKD

Make sure the provider is licensed. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds.

Verify every detail of the recipient. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, like a statement or a sales contract. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.
