Silver to Thai Baht explained
The page you are reading follows the exchange rate between Silver (XAG) and Thai Baht (THB) and compares it with the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. As of October 31, 2026, one XAG is worth 1,657.19 THB, while one THB is worth 0.00060343 XAG.
The rate shown above is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It sits exactly halfway between the price at which large banks buy XAG and the price at which they sell it. Treat it as a fair reference point: no fee or margin is built in, and that is why consumers almost never receive it in full.
The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two separate costs: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the fee you see on the order screen. In the sections below we explain how those costs work, look at what a conversion costs in practice and list practical steps to lose less on the exchange when you change XAG into THB.
Reading a gold or silver price
The standard unit for metals is the troy ounce, slightly heavier than a regular ounce, at around 31.1 grams. In currency notation, gold is XAU, silver XAG, platinum XPT and palladium XPD, which is why they appear here like any other currency. The rate shown is the price of one troy ounce.
What you see is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Coins and small bars cost more than spot, covering minting, handling and the dealer’s margin. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.
You can own precious metals in several forms. Keeping coins or bars yourself means arranging storage and insurance. Vault storage through a dealer costs a yearly fee, with the metal registered to you. Paper products track the price but do not always give you physical metal.
Check how tax applies as well. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. We show prices, not investment advice.
How providers price XAG to THB
Most providers stay away from the rate of 1,657.19 as such. They quote a slightly worse rate and earn on the difference. That gap is called the exchange rate margin. With a 2% markup, for instance, about 2 out of every 100 XAG never reach the recipient.
Next to that markup, most banks charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Be wary of services that advertise free transfers. The cost often sits in the rate instead. The reliable test is how much THB the recipient ends up with for the same amount of XAG, which is how the table above is sorted.
Practical ways to save on XAG/THB
Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive if the rate is poor. The number that matters is how much THB arrives for your XAG, and that already includes both margin and fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, you may be asked whether to pay in XAG or in the local currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Always opt to pay in the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. For transfers that can wait, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Bundling smaller transfers means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
Larger transfers: what to check first
Make sure the provider is licensed. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Verify every detail of the recipient. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, like a statement or a sales contract. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.
Silver against Thai Baht: the last twelve months
Over the past twelve months, the price of XAG in THB shows a change of -32.55%. During that year the top of the range was 2,830.00 THB per XAG, while the bottom of the range was 1,657.19. Today’s rate of 1,657.19 can be measured against those two levels.
That range between high and low puts the movement into real terms. On a large conversion, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, even when the fee stays the same.
Rates are pushed around by interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
How our XAG/THB comparison works
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 1,657.19. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, which gives the amount the recipient receives. We do this for 0 providers, placed side by side.
The figures refresh every half hour, with October 31, 2026 as the reference date. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, since markets keep moving, especially when markets are busy.
GoldexPay is independent. We may earn a commission through some links, which help fund our work. That never changes the ranking: the provider that delivers the most THB comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
