BLOX or HTX
Deciding between BLOX and HTX comes down to more than the brand name. The useful question is how much of your money arrives once both the visible fee and the hidden margin have been taken into account. This page puts a number on that.
On our site, BLOX sits in the crypto exchange group and works with Currencies, Cryptocurrencies, while HTX belongs to crypto exchange and handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. This already says a fair bit about where they overlap and where they do not.
Further down this page we walk through how we work out the cost, where each provider tends to do well and how to combine the two. Because the rates are live, today’s result is not set in stone.
Speed: BLOX vs HTX
The fastest delivery we have on record for BLOX is Instant; for HTX it is Instant. Treat these as the best case rather than a promise. Bank holidays, verification checks and the receiving bank can all add time.
The payment method matters as much as the provider. Faster funding options can come with a higher fee, so check the total in the calculator. If the money is not urgent, the slower and cheaper route is often the smart choice.
Convenience counts too: a clear app, transfer tracking and quick support make a difference when something goes wrong. Try the app before you move a large amount.
The short answer
Across 3 of the 3 scenarios we can test on both sides, HTX left you with more money at live rates. If cost is your main concern, start with HTX.
This does not rule out BLOX. The scenario table above shows which conversions BLOX still wins. If your currency pair and amount are among them, BLOX is simply the cheaper option for you.
Price is also not the only factor. Speed, limits and the way you pay in can tip the balance toward BLOX. On a modest amount, a small price gap is often worth less than that convenience.
Using both, or switching
Using two providers side by side is common. It is perfectly normal to keep BLOX for one task and HTX for another. Expect to verify your identity with each provider separately.
Before every larger transfer, check the calculator on this page, because the cheapest option can change with the rate and the amount. It is a quick check that pays off.
Before you close an account, make sure no balance or scheduled transfer is left behind and download your statements for your records.
How we compare BLOX and HTX
There are two parts to the price of any conversion: the fee you see and the markup on the rate that you often do not. We compare the rate each provider gives you with the live mid-market rate, the midpoint between buy and sell prices on the wholesale market. The gap is the margin, and we add it to the fee.
We run this for several sample amounts, from small to large, so the effect of fixed fees and percentages becomes visible. Rates refresh every 30 minutes and fees come from the providers’ published fee schedules. Promotions, account tiers and personal discounts are not always included, so your own offer may differ.
This comparison is independent. Some links on the site are affiliate links, but they never change the order or the outcome. The cheaper option is shown as cheaper, full stop.
Does the amount matter?
The size of the amount can change the winner. A fixed fee weighs heavily on a small transfer but barely registers on a large one. So look at the row closest to the amount you plan to convert.
If you move larger sums regularly, check whether tiered pricing applies, something our standard scenarios do not always capture. For any large transfer, confirm the final quote in the app before you approve it.
The right choice depends on what you do
For travel spending, compare what a card payment in a foreign currency costs at each. Holding a balance in the local currency avoids converting at every purchase.
For transfers to family or bills abroad, the total cost per transfer and the delivery time are what count. With bigger sums, ask about limits and extra checks before you start.
For buying digital assets, only a provider that handles crypto will do, and spreads and withdrawal fees matter most. Businesses should look at business accounts and batch payments, which not every provider offers. Nothing here is investment advice.
Same category, different details
BLOX and HTX are both in our crypto exchange category, so this is a like-for-like comparison. That makes the differences smaller, but they still matter.
Start with coverage: supported currencies, countries and payment methods. BLOX handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies; HTX handles Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. A missing currency is a dealbreaker that no price advantage fixes.
After that, it comes down to price on your specific route, plus limits, verification and the quality of the app. If one disappoints, the other is an easy alternative.
BLOX vs HTX as crypto exchanges
Crypto exchanges price their service in several layers. On instant buy screens the main cost is often the spread rather than a listed fee. Advanced trading usually works with maker and taker fees, and a limit order that waits in the book often costs less than buying at market.
Then there are deposit and withdrawal costs. A bank transfer is usually the cheapest way to fund an account; a card is faster but pricier. Withdrawing coins to your own wallet comes with a network or withdrawal fee that varies per asset.
Finally, think about custody. Leaving assets on a platform means trusting it to keep them safe. Whether you keep coins on BLOX, on HTX or in your own wallet, factor that choice into the cost.
Regulation and safety
Price matters, but so does knowing your money is handled properly. A legitimate provider is licensed or registered with a financial regulator. You can usually find the licence details in the footer or legal section of the provider’s website.
For money services, the key word is safeguarding: your balance should be held apart from the firm’s own money. Note that safeguarding differs from a bank deposit guarantee.
With crypto platforms, look a little further: registration with a regulator, how customer assets are stored and whether you can withdraw to your own wallet. And on any platform: turn on 2FA and never reuse passwords.
Why “zero fee” is not always cheap
A low or zero fee looks attractive, but it says little about the total cost. A provider can still earn its money on the rate. A margin of a fraction of a percent sounds small, but it grows with every amount you convert.
For this reason our comparison combines the fee and the rate margin into one number. One provider may charge a clear fee with a tight rate, another may skip the fee and widen the rate. Only the amount that arrives tells you who is really cheaper.
Other costs can matter too: card payment fees, surcharges for weekends or rare currencies, and costs on the receiving side. Not all of these show up in our scenarios, so read the fee page before you send a large amount.
