Converting Bitcoin into Chinese Yuan explained

This overview tracks the exchange rate between Bitcoin (BTC) and Chinese Yuan (CNY) and compares it with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 30, 2026, 1 BTC buys 511,335.04 CNY, while a single CNY comes to 0.0000019557 BTC.

That headline number is the interbank mid rate. It is the midpoint between the price at which large banks buy BTC and the price at which they sell it. Think of it as a fair reference point: no fee or margin is built in, and that is why consumers almost never receive it in full.

The amount that lands in the other account depends on two separate costs: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we explain how those costs work, put them side by side and list practical steps to get closer to the mid-market rate when you swap Bitcoin for Chinese Yuan.

Sample calculation for 0.0100 BTC

Consider a conversion of 0.0100 BTC. At the mid-market rate of 511,335.04, that sum sets the ceiling for what any provider could deliver in CNY. In reality every provider keeps something, because margins and fees come off first.

Of the 1 providers we compared, Revolut came out cheapest for this amount and paid out 5,037.16 CNY at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount is what the conversion actually cost you.

Bear in mind that the cheapest provider for 0.0100 BTC is not automatically the cheapest for every amount. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, whereas the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Run your own figure through the converter and check whether the order changes.

One year of BTC to CNY

Over the past twelve months, the exchange rate has changed by -34.66%. In that period the top of the range was 786,846.19 CNY for one BTC, while the bottom of the range was 397,864.23. At 511,335.04, the rate today is easy to place within that band.

The spread between the year’s extremes shows how much the rate can move in practice. When you convert a substantial sum, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

The rate reflects news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.

What to know about BTC/CNY on crypto platforms

Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On a trading platform, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, on top of a maker or taker fee. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price that has the cost baked in.

When you move crypto to or from your own wallet, there is a separate network charge. It is unrelated to how much you move, so it weighs more on small transactions. Make sure the sending and receiving side use the same network: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.

Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. A quote is often only valid for a short moment, while large trades risk slippage. Treat the figure above as an indication.

Also decide who holds the keys. Coins kept on an exchange are held by that exchange, while in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.

Tips for converting BTC to CNY

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little because the margin can make up the difference. The number that matters is the CNY amount after every cost, and that already includes both margin and fee.

When you pay by card abroad, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It tends to be among the most expensive ways to convert. Pick the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.

Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. For transfers that can wait, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Also check how you fund the transfer. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts reduces what you pay in flat fees.

How our BTC/CNY comparison works

Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 511,335.04. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, and work out how much CNY the recipient would end up with. In total 1 providers are included, placed side by side.

We update the rates every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. The final price is always set by the provider itself, since markets keep moving.

We are not owned by any provider. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help pay for the site. They have no influence on the order: providers are sorted purely by how much CNY the recipient gets.

Larger transfers: what to check first

Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds and that offers protection if the company fails.

Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign: confirm by phone using a number you already know.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, like a statement or a sales contract. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.

Where the cost of converting BTC to CNY hides

Nearly every bank and app will not give you the rate of 511,335.04 as such. They offer a rate that is a little less favourable and pocket the gap. This is known as the exchange rate margin. With a 2% markup, for instance, you lose roughly 2 BTC on every 100 BTC, without it ever appearing as a fee.

On top of the margin, many providers charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a share of what you send or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Look twice at services that advertise free transfers. Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The reliable test is the total amount that arrives in CNY for the same amount of BTC, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
