BTC to ETH: what you are looking at
The page you are reading brings together the exchange rate between Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) and sets it next to the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. As of October 30, 2026, 1 BTC equals 34.2320 ETH, while 1 ETH equals 0.029212 BTC.
The rate shown above is the mid-market rate. It is calculated as the middle of what wholesale traders pay for BTC and what they ask for it. Treat it as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, so consumers almost never receive it in full.
What you actually receive is shaped by two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and the fee you see on the order screen. In the sections below we explain how those costs work, put them side by side and share simple habits to get closer to the mid-market rate when you swap Bitcoin for Ethereum.
Sample calculation for 0.0100 BTC
Let’s use a conversion of 0.0100 BTC. Using the reference rate of 34.2320, that marks the theoretical maximum of what any provider could deliver in ETH. In reality every provider keeps something, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.
Of the 20 providers we compared, Crypto.com came out cheapest for this amount, with 0.3419 ETH after all costs. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount is the real price of the transfer.
Bear in mind that the cheapest provider for 0.0100 BTC is not automatically the cheapest for every amount. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Enter your own amount in the converter and check whether the order changes.
Practical ways to save on BTC/ETH
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little because the margin can make up the difference. What you want to know is the ETH amount after every cost, and that already includes both margin and fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a ETH country, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Choose the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Timing can also matter. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. It takes the guesswork out, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
The payment method matters as well. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
How GoldexPay compares BTC to ETH providers
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 34.2320. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, which gives the amount the recipient receives. We do this for 20 providers, ranked from most to least received.
The figures refresh every half hour, with October 30, 2026 as the reference date. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, since markets keep moving, especially when markets are busy.
No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. We may earn a commission through some links, which help pay for the site. The order is never affected by them: the provider that delivers the most ETH comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
Bitcoin against Ethereum: the last twelve months
Over the past twelve months, the exchange rate moved by +21.43%. In that period the highest level was 38.7934 ETH per BTC, while the low point came in at 27.6794. Today’s rate of 34.2320 is easy to place within that band.
That range between high and low puts the movement into real terms. For a bigger amount, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, even when the fee stays the same.
Rates are pushed around by interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you want to act on a certain rate, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
Sending a larger amount from BTC to ETH
Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Verify every detail of the recipient. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details. Verify through a channel you trust.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
The majority of services stay away from the mid-market rate itself. Instead they offer a rate that is a little less favourable and keep the difference. This is known as the exchange rate margin. A markup of 2%, for example, means that for every 100 BTC you convert, about 2 BTC worth disappears before the money arrives.
On top of the margin, a lot of services add a visible fee. That can be a flat charge per payment, a share of what you send or both at once. With international bank payments other banks along the route may take their own cut, and those only show up at the end.
Take a close look at services that advertise free transfers. Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The reliable test is the final ETH figure for an identical BTC amount, which is how the table above is sorted.
What to know about BTC/ETH on crypto platforms
Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On a trading platform, you deal with a spread between the highest bid and the lowest ask, plus a trading fee. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price with the margin already included.
Withdrawing crypto from a platform, there is a separate network charge. It is unrelated to how much you move, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Make sure the sending and receiving side use the same network: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.
The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. A quote is often only valid for a short moment, and on large orders the execution price can slip. The rate on this page is a reference point, not a guaranteed price.
Custody is another point to consider. On a platform, someone else manages the private keys, while in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Use platforms that are registered with the regulator in your country.
