BTC to USDT: what you are looking at
This overview follows the price relationship between Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT), together with what real providers charge to convert one into the other. On October 30, 2026, 1 BTC buys 76,874.72 USDT, and a single USDT equals 0.0000130082 BTC.
The figure at the top is the interbank mid rate. It is calculated as the middle of the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. It works as a fair reference point: nobody earns anything on it directly, which is exactly why consumers almost never receive it in full.
What ends up on the USDT side depends on two things: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the fee you see on the order screen. In the sections below we take those costs apart, show how they add up on a real amount and list practical steps to keep more of your money when you change BTC into USDT.
Getting the most USDT for your BTC
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The fairest figure to compare is the amount received, which combines margin and fee.
When you pay by card abroad, you may be asked whether to pay in BTC or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.
Timing plays a role too. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once BTC/USDT reaches a level you choose. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Sending less often but in larger amounts means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
Most providers do not convert at the rate of 76,874.72 as such. Instead they offer a rate that is a little less favourable and keep the difference. This is known as the exchange rate margin. If the margin is 2%, then about 2 out of every 100 BTC never reach the recipient.
On top of the margin, many providers add a visible fee. This is usually a flat charge per payment, a share of what you send or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network extra deductions can follow, and those only show up at the end.
Look twice at anything sold as commission-free. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is the final USDT figure for an identical BTC amount, which is how the table above is sorted.
Bitcoin against Tether: the last twelve months
Over the past twelve months, the BTC/USDT rate moved by -30.11%. In that period the highest level was 110,500.20 USDT per BTC, while the lowest was 58,642.23. At 76,874.72, the rate today can be measured against those two levels.
The spread between the year’s extremes shows how much the rate can move in practice. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Rates are pushed around by interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
How GoldexPay compares BTC to USDT providers
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, to calculate what actually arrives in USDT. We do this for 20 providers, ranked from most to least received.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, with October 30, 2026 as the reference date. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.
GoldexPay is independent. We may earn a commission through some links, which help fund our work. They have no influence on the order: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
Converting BTC to USDT as a crypto pair
Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On a trading platform, you pay the difference between bid and ask, and a commission per trade. Simple broker apps often show one price that has the cost baked in.
When you move crypto to or from your own wallet, a network fee applies. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, which makes small withdrawals relatively expensive. Make sure the sending and receiving side use the same network: coins sent over the wrong network can be lost.
The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, while large trades risk slippage. The rate on this page is a reference point, not a guaranteed price.
Also decide who holds the keys. Coins kept on an exchange are held by that exchange, while self-custody means you alone can access, or lose, the funds. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.
Example: converting 0.0100 BTC
Let’s use a conversion of 0.0100 BTC. Using the reference rate of 76,874.72, you can work out the upper limit of what the recipient could get. In reality every provider keeps something, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.
Across the 20 providers in our comparison, Crypto.com delivered the most and paid out 767.79 USDT in the end. The gap between 767.79 USDT and the theoretical maximum is what the conversion actually cost you.
Bear in mind that a different amount can produce a different winner. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, whereas a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Enter your own amount in the converter and check whether the order changes.
Larger transfers: what to check first
Check the provider’s licence first. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
