Ethereum to Swiss Franc explained
The page you are reading tracks the exchange rate between Ethereum (ETH) and Swiss Franc (CHF), together with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. At the latest update on October 30, 2026, 1 ETH buys 1,833.62 CHF, while one CHF is worth 0.00054537 ETH.
The figure at the top is the interbank mid rate. It is the midpoint between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. It works as a fair reference point: no fee or margin is built in, so consumers almost never receive it in full.
The amount that lands in the other account depends on two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and the visible transfer or service fee. In the sections below we take those costs apart, put them side by side and give concrete ways to get closer to the mid-market rate when converting ETH to CHF.
What banks and apps really charge for ETH to CHF
Nearly every bank and app will not give you the mid-market rate as such. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and pocket the gap. This is known as the spread. A markup of 2%, for example, means that about 2 out of every 100 ETH never reach the recipient.
Besides the hidden margin, most banks charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a share of what you send or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". The cost often sits in the rate instead. The only fair way to compare is how much CHF the recipient ends up with for exactly the same sum, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.
Crypto spreads, network fees and custody
Crypto prices differ from platform to platform. On a trading platform, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, plus a trading fee. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price with the margin already included.
If you withdraw coins to a wallet, there is a separate network charge. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, so it weighs more on small transactions. Double-check the network before you send: coins sent over the wrong network can be lost.
Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, and big orders can fill at a worse price than shown. Treat the figure above as an indication.
Think about custody as well. If you leave crypto on a platform, the platform controls it, whereas in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Use platforms that are registered with the regulator in your country.
Before you send: security and large amounts
Make sure the provider is licensed. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
Recent movement in the ETH/CHF rate
Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate moved by -41.51%. During that year the top of the range was 3,153.79 CHF for one ETH, while the low point came in at 1,242.04. The current 1,833.62 sits somewhere inside that range.
The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. On a large conversion, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, even when the fee stays the same.
Rates are pushed around by central bank policy, economic data and shifts in risk appetite. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
Practical ways to save on ETH/CHF
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. What you want to know is the CHF amount after every cost, which combines the markup and the fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a CHF country, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. It tends to be among the most expensive ways to convert. Choose the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once ETH/CHF reaches a level you choose. That avoids guessing, though the target may never be reached.
Finally, look at how you pay. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Bundling smaller transfers reduces what you pay in flat fees.
How we rank providers for ETH to CHF
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 1,833.62. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, which gives the amount the recipient receives. In total 4 providers are included, so you can see the differences at a glance.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.
No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help fund our work. That never changes the ranking: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
A worked example with 0.5000 ETH
Take an amount of 0.5000 ETH. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (1,833.62), that marks the theoretical maximum of what is possible on the CHF side. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.
Looking at all 4 providers we track, Kraken delivered the most and paid out 912.69 CHF at the time of our last update. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount is what the conversion actually cost you.
Keep in mind that the cheapest provider for 0.5000 ETH is not automatically the cheapest for every amount. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Enter your own amount in the converter and check whether the order changes.
