Tips for converting PLN to TRX

Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The fairest figure to compare is the TRX amount after every cost, which combines margin and fee.

When you pay by card abroad, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. It usually comes with a steep markup. Choose the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.

Watch the timing as well. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. For transfers that can wait, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once PLN/TRX reaches a level you choose. It saves you from checking the rate every day, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Finally, look at how you pay. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, while funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Bundling smaller transfers also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
