The PLN/XPT exchange rate: what you are looking at
This page follows the rate for Polish Zloty (PLN) and Platinum (XPT) and compares it with the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. As of October 31, 2026, 1 PLN equals 0.00017689 XPT, while one XPT is worth 5,653.36 PLN.
That headline number is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy PLN and the price at which they sell it. Think of it as a neutral benchmark: nobody earns anything on it directly, so you rarely get it as a private customer.
What ends up on the XPT side comes down to two separate costs: the margin a provider adds to that rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Further down we take those costs apart, show how they add up on a real amount and give concrete ways to keep more of your money when you change PLN into XPT.
Reading a gold or silver price
Precious metals are quoted per troy ounce, slightly heavier than a regular ounce, at around 31.1 grams. XAU is the code for gold, XAG for silver, XPT for platinum and XPD for palladium, which is why they appear here like any other currency. One unit in this pair means one troy ounce.
What you see is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Buy a coin or small bar and you pay a premium on top, to pay for production, distribution and the seller’s margin. The buyback price is normally lower than spot.
You can own precious metals in several forms. Physical metal at home needs safe storage and insurance. Vault storage through a dealer charges an annual fee but keeps the metal in your name. Paper products track the price but do not always give you physical metal.
Check how tax applies as well. Across the EU, investment gold is normally VAT-free, but silver is generally taxed. We show prices, not investment advice.
What banks and apps really charge for PLN to XPT
The majority of services do not convert at the rate of 0.00017689 as such. Instead they shift the rate in their own favour and earn on the difference. That gap is called the spread. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 PLN on every 100 PLN, without it ever appearing as a fee.
Besides the hidden margin, most banks ask for a separate fee. It may be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, and those only show up at the end.
Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. The cost often sits in the rate instead. The only fair way to compare is the total amount that arrives in XPT for exactly the same sum, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
Before you send: security and large amounts
Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own and that offers protection if the company fails.
Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
How PLN/XPT moved over the past year
Compared with a year ago, the price of PLN in XPT moved by +29.51%. In that period the rate peaked at 0.00017689 XPT for one PLN, and the bottom of the range was 0.00011466. Today’s rate of 0.00017689 is easy to place within that band.
The spread between the year’s extremes is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Rates are pushed around by central bank policy, economic data and shifts in risk appetite. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you want to act on a certain rate, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
Why we compare total cost
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, and work out how much XPT the recipient would end up with. We do this for 0 providers, placed side by side.
The figures refresh every half hour, with October 31, 2026 as the reference date. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, since markets keep moving.
We are not owned by any provider. Some of the links are affiliate links. That never changes the ranking: providers are sorted purely by how much XPT the recipient gets.
Tips for converting PLN to XPT
Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive if the rate is poor. The number that matters is the XPT amount after every cost, which combines the markup and the fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Always opt to pay in the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. For transfers that can wait, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. That avoids guessing, though the target may never be reached.
The payment method matters as well. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Sending less often but in larger amounts means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
