USD Coin to Tether explained
This overview follows the rate for USD Coin (USDC) and Tether (USDT) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. On October 30, 2026, one USDC is worth 1.0006 USDT, and a single USDT equals 0.999431 USDC.
That headline number is the mid-market rate. It is the midpoint between what wholesale traders pay for USDC and what they ask for it. Think of it as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, which is exactly why consumers almost never receive it in full.
What ends up on the USDT side is shaped by two things: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Below the converter and chart we show how those costs are built up, show how they add up on a real amount and list practical steps to get closer to the mid-market rate when converting USDC to USDT.
Exchange rate markup and fees on USDC/USDT
The majority of services will not give you the mid-market rate as such. Instead they offer a rate that is a little less favourable and keep the difference. This is known as the markup. With a 2% markup, for instance, for every 100 USDC you convert, about 2 USDC worth disappears before the money arrives.
On top of the margin, a lot of services ask for a separate fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, and those only show up at the end.
Be wary of offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". The cost often sits in the rate instead. The reliable test is the total amount that arrives in USDT for the same amount of USDC, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.
Sample calculation for 1,000.00 USDC
Let’s use a transfer of 1,000.00 USDC. Using the reference rate of 1.0006, that marks the theoretical maximum of what any provider could deliver in USDT. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, because margins and fees come off first.
Across the 20 providers in our comparison, Crypto.com came out cheapest for this amount: the recipient gets 999.32 USDT at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Bear in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Run your own figure through the converter to see the ranking that applies to you.
Sending a larger amount from USDC to USDT
Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own.
Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
For large amounts, expect extra checks. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, like a statement or a sales contract. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
How our USDC/USDT comparison works
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, to calculate what actually arrives in USDT. The comparison covers 20 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. The final price is always set by the provider itself, because their rate can move between our updates.
GoldexPay is independent. We may earn a commission through some links. They have no influence on the order: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
Paying less when you change USDC into USDT
Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. What you want to know is how much USDT arrives for your USDC, which combines the markup and the fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a USDT country, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Watch the timing as well. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. If you are not in a hurry, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. That avoids guessing, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Also check how you fund the transfer. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Sending less often but in larger amounts also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
One year of USDC to USDT
Compared with a year ago, the price of USDC in USDT has changed by +0.10%. During that year the highest level was 1.0032 USDT for one USDC, while the low point came in at 0.996870. At 1.0006, the rate today sits somewhere inside that range.
The distance between the high and the low puts the movement into real terms. When you convert a substantial sum, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
What to know about USDC/USDT on crypto platforms
With crypto, the price you pay depends heavily on where you trade. On an exchange with an order book, you deal with a spread between the highest bid and the lowest ask, and a commission per trade. Simple broker apps often show one price which hides a wider spread.
When you move crypto to or from your own wallet, you pay a network or withdrawal fee. It is unrelated to how much you move, which makes small withdrawals relatively expensive. Make sure the sending and receiving side use the same network: mistakes here are rarely reversible.
Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. A quote is often only valid for a short moment, and big orders can fill at a worse price than shown. Use the rate here as a guide, not as a binding quote.
Also decide who holds the keys. If you leave crypto on a platform, the platform controls it, whereas in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.
