The USDT/CNY exchange rate explained
This page follows the price relationship between Tether (USDT) and Chinese Yuan (CNY) and compares it with the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. On October 30, 2026, 1 USDT equals 6.6487 CNY, while one CNY is worth 0.150406 USDT.
That headline number is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is the midpoint between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Think of it as a fair reference point: it contains no profit margin and no fees, and that is why you rarely get it as a private customer.
What you actually receive is shaped by two things: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Below the converter and chart we show how those costs are built up, show how they add up on a real amount and list practical steps to keep more of your money when converting USDT to CNY.
Tips for converting USDT to CNY
Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The number that matters is the amount received, which combines margin and fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a CNY country, you may be asked whether to pay in USDT or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once USDT/CNY reaches a level you choose. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer reduces what you pay in flat fees.
About this comparison
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 6.6487. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, and work out how much CNY the recipient would end up with. We do this for 1 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation.
We are not owned by any provider. We may earn a commission through some links, which help fund our work. That never changes the ranking: providers are sorted purely by how much CNY the recipient gets.
What 1,000.00 USDT gets you in CNY
Consider a conversion of 1,000.00 USDT. Using the reference rate of 6.6487, that marks the theoretical maximum of what any provider could deliver in CNY. In reality every provider keeps something, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.
Across the 1 providers in our comparison, Revolut delivered the most and paid out 6,549.61 CNY after all costs. The gap between 6,549.61 CNY and the theoretical maximum shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Bear in mind that the cheapest provider for 1,000.00 USDT is not automatically the cheapest for every amount. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, while a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Enter your own amount in the converter to see the ranking that applies to you.
Buying or selling crypto: USDT to CNY
Crypto prices differ from platform to platform. On an exchange with an order book, you deal with a spread between the highest bid and the lowest ask, and a commission per trade. Simple broker apps often show one price with the margin already included.
Withdrawing crypto from a platform, a network fee applies. It is unrelated to how much you move, so it weighs more on small transactions. Double-check the network before you send: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.
The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, and on large orders the execution price can slip. The rate on this page is a reference point, not a guaranteed price.
Custody is another point to consider. If you leave crypto on a platform, the platform controls it, while a personal wallet puts the responsibility, and the risk of losing access, on you. Check that a platform is registered or licensed with a financial regulator where you live.
How providers price USDT to CNY
Nearly every bank and app stay away from the mid-market rate as such. They shift the rate in their own favour and keep the difference. That gap is called the exchange rate margin. With a 2% markup, for instance, for every 100 USDT you convert, about 2 USDT worth disappears before the money arrives.
Besides the hidden margin, many providers add a visible fee. This is usually a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network extra deductions can follow, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Look twice at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". The cost often sits in the rate instead. What really counts is the total amount that arrives in CNY for an identical USDT amount, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.
Recent movement in the USDT/CNY rate
Compared with a year ago, the price of USDT in CNY has changed by -6.55%. Within those twelve months the rate peaked at 7.1268 CNY for one USDT, and the bottom of the range was 6.6487. At 6.6487, the rate today can be measured against those two levels.
The spread between the year’s extremes puts the movement into real terms. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
Sending a larger amount from USDT to CNY
Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.
Larger transfers often come with additional questions. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
