Bitget vs Kraken
Deciding between Bitget and Kraken is less obvious than it looks. The useful question is how much you actually keep once the fee and the rate markup are counted. That is the gap we measure here.
On our site, Bitget falls into the crypto exchange group and works with Currencies, Cryptocurrencies, while Kraken sits in crypto exchange and covers Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. This already says a fair bit about which jobs each one is built for.
Further down this page we walk through how we work out the cost, where each provider tends to do well, and who should pick which. Since we work with live rates, the numbers may differ slightly from yesterday.
Delivery time and ease of use
The fastest delivery we have on record for Bitget is Instant; for Kraken it is Instant. Treat these as the best case rather than a promise. Bank holidays, verification checks and the receiving bank can all add time.
Speed often depends on how you pay. Faster funding options can come with a higher fee, so check the total in the calculator. When there is no rush, a slower option can save you money.
Then there is everyday use: a clear app, transfer tracking and quick support make a difference when something goes wrong. Which app feels easier is a matter of taste.
Bitget vs Kraken as crypto exchanges
Crypto exchanges price their service in several layers. On instant buy screens the main cost is often the spread rather than a listed fee. If you use the order book, maker and taker fees replace the spread as the main cost.
Deposits and withdrawals deserve a separate look. Bank transfers are often a cheap way in, while card deposits usually cost more. When you withdraw crypto, a network fee applies, and it differs per coin and per exchange.
And then there is the question of who holds your coins. Leaving assets on a platform means trusting it to keep them safe. Whether you keep coins on Bitget, on Kraken or in your own wallet, factor that choice into the cost.
Does the amount matter?
The cheapest choice for a small amount is not always the cheapest for a large one. Fixed fees hit small transfers hardest; percentage margins hit large ones hardest. Our scenario table reflects this by testing several amounts.
Some providers lower their percentage above certain thresholds, something our standard scenarios do not always capture. Before a big transfer with Bitget or Kraken, read the current pricing on their site.
Verdict
For 4 out of 4 scenarios we can test on both sides, Bitget delivered the better result once fees and exchange rate were counted. If cost is your main concern, start with Bitget.
This does not rule out Kraken. Check the table above to see where Kraken comes out ahead, and if your own transfer matches one of those rows, that single row counts more than the total score.
Price is also not the only factor. Kraken may support a payment method, a currency or a delivery option you need. For small sums, those practical points can outweigh the price difference.
Why “zero fee” is not always cheap
Plenty of services advertise a zero fee. A provider can still earn its money on the rate. A margin of a fraction of a percent sounds small, but it grows with every amount you convert.
For this reason our comparison combines the fee and the rate margin into one number. Bitget and Kraken may structure their pricing differently, one with a visible fee and a tight rate, the other with no fee and a wider spread. What counts is what lands in the account at the end.
Watch for extra costs outside the conversion itself: weekend surcharges, card fees, charges by the receiving bank or withdrawal fees on crypto. We include what is published, but it pays to double-check before a large transaction.
Bitget or Kraken: which fits your situation?
For travel spending, compare what a card payment in a foreign currency costs at each. A multi-currency account with a card is usually the most practical tool.
To send money to a bank account abroad, compare the received amount for your usual sum. For large amounts, such as a house deposit or tuition, even a small margin difference adds up, and limits and verification matter as well.
If you want to buy crypto, check that crypto is supported at all, then compare spreads and withdrawal fees. For business payments, check whether a business account is available and what it costs. This page compares cost, not suitability as an investment.
Is your money safe?
Cheap is only good if your money is in safe hands. Look for a licence or registration with a financial regulator in your country or region. You can usually find the licence details in the footer or legal section of the provider’s website.
An important question is safeguarding: your balance should be held apart from the firm’s own money. Safeguarding is not the same as a deposit guarantee, so a transfer app is no replacement for a savings account.
With crypto platforms, look a little further: registration with a regulator, how customer assets are stored and whether you can withdraw to your own wallet. And on any platform: turn on 2FA and never reuse passwords.
Can you use Bitget and Kraken together?
Many people do not use one provider for everything. Plenty of users keep an account with both and choose per transfer. Expect to verify your identity with each provider separately.
Before every larger transfer, run the amount through the calculator, because the cheapest option can change with the rate and the amount. It is a quick check that pays off.
When you move away from one provider, withdraw or spend your remaining balance first and keep a copy of your transaction history.
Same category, different details
Both Bitget and Kraken sit in the crypto exchange category, so they compete for the same customers. They solve the same problem, so price, speed and coverage decide.
Check the basics: which currencies or assets each one supports, and which countries you can send to or from. On paper, Bitget supports Currencies, Cryptocurrencies and Kraken supports Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. A missing currency is a dealbreaker that no price advantage fixes.
After that, it comes down to price on your specific route, plus limits, verification and the quality of the app. If one disappoints, the other is an easy alternative.
How we compare Bitget and Kraken
Every provider earns money in two ways: a visible fee and a margin hidden in the exchange rate. Our yardstick is the mid-market rate: the midpoint between what the market bids and asks. Fee plus margin gives the real cost.
Each conversion is checked with several sample amounts so the effect of fixed fees and percentages becomes visible. Exchange rates are refreshed every 30 minutes; fees are taken from the published fee schedules. Promotions, account tiers and personal discounts are not always included, so your own offer may differ.
We are not owned by any provider. Affiliate links help pay for the site, but the ranking is based on cost alone. If a provider we earn nothing from is cheaper, it still comes out on top.
