Bybit versus Crypto.com

Deciding between Bybit and Crypto.com is rarely about the logo. The real question is how much of your money arrives once the fee and the rate markup have been taken into account. This page puts a number on that.

In our database, Bybit falls into the crypto exchange group and covers Currencies, Cryptocurrencies, while Crypto.com sits in crypto exchange and covers Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. This already says quite a lot about when one can stand in for the other.

Further down this page we explain our method, where each provider tends to do well, and how to combine the two. Because the rates are live, the outcome can shift during the day.

Speed and convenience

Fastest delivery: Instant at Bybit and Instant at Crypto.com. Treat these as the best case rather than a promise. Weekends, first-time checks and the recipient’s bank can slow things down.

How you fund a transfer makes a big difference. A card payment or instant bank transfer is usually quicker than a regular bank transfer, but it can cost more. Only pay for speed when you actually need it.

Convenience counts too: how easy the app is, whether you can track a transfer and how fast support responds. Try the app before you move a large amount.

Switching between Bybit and Crypto.com

Using two providers side by side is common. It is perfectly normal to keep Bybit for one task and Crypto.com for another. Opening an account is usually free, though identity verification can take a while.

Before every larger transfer, check the calculator on this page, as the result depends on the moment and the sum. It takes a minute and can save real money.

Before you close an account, make sure no balance or scheduled transfer is left behind and download your statements for your records.

How we calculate the cost

The cost of a conversion has two parts: the fee you see and the markup on the rate that you often do not. Our yardstick is the mid-market rate: the midpoint between what the market bids and asks. Fee plus margin gives the real cost.

Each conversion is checked with several sample amounts since a fixed fee hurts more on small sums. Exchange rates are refreshed every 30 minutes; fees are taken from the published fee schedules. Promotions, account tiers and personal discounts are not always included, so your own offer may differ.

GoldexPay is independent. We may earn a commission through some links; that never affects which provider comes out cheaper. The numbers decide, not the commission.

Which one suits you?

When you travel, look at card fees, cash withdrawal limits and weekend surcharges, not just the transfer price. Holding a balance in the local currency avoids converting at every purchase.

If you send money abroad regularly, the total cost per transfer and the delivery time are what count. With bigger sums, ask about limits and extra checks before you start.

If you want to buy crypto, you need a platform that actually supports crypto, and you should compare spreads and withdrawal costs. For business payments, check whether a business account is available and what it costs. We compare costs only; this is not investment advice.

Does the amount matter?

Who comes out ahead can flip as the amount grows. Fixed fees hit small transfers hardest; percentage margins hit large ones hardest. So look at the row closest to the amount you plan to convert.

Some providers lower their percentage above certain thresholds, and your own price may then be better than the one shown. With Bybit or Crypto.com, check the current terms before you move a significant sum.

Where the real cost hides

A low or zero fee looks attractive, but it says little about the total cost. Often the cost simply moves into the exchange rate, where it is harder to spot. On a large amount, a small margin can add up to more than a fixed fee would.

For this reason our comparison combines the fee and the rate margin into one number. One provider may charge a clear fee with a tight rate, another may skip the fee and widen the rate. Only the amount that arrives tells you who is really cheaper.

Watch for extra costs outside the conversion itself: card payment fees, surcharges for weekends or rare currencies, and costs on the receiving side. Some of these sit outside what we can measure, so check the provider’s fee page before a big transfer.

Comparing two crypto exchanges

With two crypto exchanges, the cost is spread over several layers. On instant buy screens the main cost is often the spread rather than a listed fee. On the trading screen, maker and taker fees apply instead: makers add orders to the order book, takers fill existing ones.

Deposits and withdrawals deserve a separate look. Bank transfers are often a cheap way in, while card deposits usually cost more. When you withdraw crypto, a network fee applies, and it differs per coin and per exchange.

Finally, think about custody. Leaving assets on a platform means trusting it to keep them safe. If you plan to move coins to your own wallet, include the withdrawal fee in your comparison.

Like for like: Bybit and Crypto.com

Bybit and Crypto.com belong to the same category, crypto exchange, so this is a like-for-like comparison. They solve the same problem, so price, speed and coverage decide.

Check the basics: the list of supported currencies or coins and where you can use them. Bybit covers Currencies, Cryptocurrencies, Crypto.com covers Currencies, Cryptocurrencies. A small gap in coverage can matter more than a small price difference.

Then compare price on the route you actually use, along with practical matters such as the app and customer service. Because they are so similar, trying the other one later costs little.

Safety checks before you sign up

Price matters, but so does knowing your money is handled properly. A legitimate provider is licensed or registered with a financial regulator. Providers normally list their licence and the supervising authority on their website.

With e-money and transfer services, ask about safeguarding: your balance should be ring-fenced from the business’s own accounts. That is a different kind of protection from a bank deposit guarantee scheme.

Crypto exchanges deserve extra scrutiny: registration with a regulator, how customer assets are stored and whether you can withdraw to your own wallet. Whichever you choose, switch on two-factor authentication and use a unique password.

The short answer: Crypto.com comes out cheaper

For 4 out of 4 comparisons we can test on both sides, Crypto.com left you with more money at live rates. If cost is your main concern, start with Crypto.com.

Still, Bybit is not out of the race. Check the table above to see the routes where Bybit does better. If your currency pair and amount are among them, Bybit is simply the cheaper option for you.

Cost is one thing, not everything. You may already have a verified account with Bybit, which saves a sign-up. A few cents on a small transfer rarely beat that kind of convenience.
