Converting Ethereum into Tether explained
The page you are reading tracks the exchange rate between Ethereum (ETH) and Tether (USDT) and sets it next to the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. At the latest update on October 30, 2026, 1 ETH equals 2,239.12 USDT, and one USDT comes to 0.00044660 ETH.
That headline number is the interbank mid rate. It is the midpoint between what wholesale traders pay for ETH and what they ask for it. Think of it as the cleanest reference you can get: it contains no profit margin and no fees, so you rarely get it as a private customer.
What ends up on the USDT side is shaped by two separate costs: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the visible transfer or service fee. In the sections below we explain how those costs work, look at what a conversion costs in practice and give concrete ways to get closer to the mid-market rate when you change ETH into USDT.
Why we compare total cost
We start from the live mid-market rate for ETH/USDT. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, to calculate what actually arrives in USDT. In total 20 providers are included, ranked from most to least received.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, with October 30, 2026 as the reference date. The final price is always set by the provider itself, since markets keep moving.
GoldexPay is independent. Some of the links are affiliate links. That never changes the ranking: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.
Sample calculation for 0.5000 ETH
Take a transfer of 0.5000 ETH. At the mid-market rate of 2,239.12, that sum sets the ceiling for what the recipient could get. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.
Across the 20 providers in our comparison, Crypto.com delivered the most, with 1,118.16 USDT after all costs. The gap between 1,118.16 USDT and the theoretical maximum shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Bear in mind that a different amount can produce a different winner. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, whereas a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Run your own figure through the converter for a ranking that fits your situation.
How ETH/USDT moved over the past year
Over the past twelve months, the exchange rate shows a change of -42.61%. Within those twelve months the rate peaked at 3,905.37 USDT for one ETH, and the low point came in at 1,567.88. Today’s rate of 2,239.12 can be measured against those two levels.
The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. When you convert a substantial sum, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
Rates are pushed around by central bank policy, economic data and shifts in risk appetite. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.
Exchange rate markup and fees on ETH/USDT
Nearly every bank and app stay away from the mid-market rate itself. Instead they shift the rate in their own favour and earn on the difference. This is known as the markup. A markup of 2%, for example, means that about 2 out of every 100 ETH never reach the recipient.
Next to that markup, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. On classic bank transfers abroad other banks along the route may take their own cut, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The reliable test is how much USDT the recipient ends up with for exactly the same sum, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.
Converting ETH to USDT as a crypto pair
Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On a trading platform, you pay the difference between bid and ask, on top of a maker or taker fee. Simple broker apps often show one price with the margin already included.
Withdrawing crypto from a platform, you pay a network or withdrawal fee. That fee does not depend on the amount, so it weighs more on small transactions. Always check which network a platform uses: coins sent over the wrong network can be lost.
The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. A quote is often only valid for a short moment, and on large orders the execution price can slip. The rate on this page is a reference point, not a guaranteed price.
Custody is another point to consider. Coins kept on an exchange are held by that exchange, while a personal wallet puts the responsibility, and the risk of losing access, on you. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.
Getting the most USDT for your ETH
Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A small fee on its own says little when the margin is high. What you want to know is how much USDT arrives for your ETH, and that already includes both margin and fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a USDT country, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.
Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. That avoids guessing, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts reduces what you pay in flat fees.
Staying safe with bigger ETH to USDT transfers
Only use providers that are regulated. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Verify through a channel you trust.
For large amounts, expect extra checks. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
