The NOK/CNY exchange rate explained

The page you are reading brings together the price relationship between Norwegian Krone (NOK) and Chinese Yuan (CNY) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. On October 30, 2026, one NOK is worth 0.721697 CNY, while a single CNY comes to 1.3856 NOK.

The rate shown above is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy NOK and the price at which they sell it. Think of it as a neutral benchmark: no fee or margin is built in, so you rarely get it as a private customer.

The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two things: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Below the converter and chart we show how those costs are built up, put them side by side and share simple habits to keep more of your money when converting NOK to CNY.

Where Norwegian Krone and Chinese Yuan are used

Norwegian Krone is the legal tender in Norway. Chinese Yuan is the official currency of China. Knowing this helps for anyone who earns in one of these currencies and spends in the other.

People convert NOK to CNY for many reasons: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. Each situation asks for something different: a one-off large payment benefits most from a sharp rate, while regular small amounts are more sensitive to fixed fees.

Each country has its own payment habits. Some recipients expect a bank account number with a local bank code, others an IBAN, and in some places cash pickup or mobile money is common. Have the recipient’s full details ready before you begin.

One year of NOK to CNY

Across the last year, the exchange rate has changed by +2.45%. In that period the highest level was 0.740427 CNY per NOK, and the lowest was 0.684122. Today’s rate of 0.721697 can be measured against those two levels.

The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. For a bigger amount, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, even when the fee stays the same.

Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.

10,000.00 NOK to CNY, step by step

Consider a conversion of 10,000.00 NOK. At the mid-market rate of 0.721697, that marks the theoretical maximum of what is possible on the CNY side. In reality every provider keeps something, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.

Of the 9 providers we compared, Wise came out cheapest for this amount, with 7,181.50 CNY at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.

Bear in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Enter your own amount in the converter to see the ranking that applies to you.

Sending a larger amount from NOK to CNY

Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.

Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.

For large amounts, expect extra checks. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.

How our NOK/CNY comparison works

Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 0.721697. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, and work out how much CNY the recipient would end up with. We do this for 9 providers, placed side by side.

The figures refresh every half hour, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. The final price is always set by the provider itself, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.

GoldexPay is independent. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help fund our work. They have no influence on the order: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.

Bank transfer or money transfer service for CNY?

Your regular bank usually sends the money over the SWIFT network. The money can pass through one or more correspondent banks, each of which can deduct a charge. Expect anything from one to a few working days, and the final deduction is often only visible afterwards.

Many money transfer apps use a different model. They have local accounts on both sides, so no money physically crosses the border: you pay in locally and the recipient is paid out locally. That is often faster and cheaper, and you see exactly what will arrive before you confirm.

Speed is not down to the provider alone: funding method, verification and holidays in the sending and receiving country. The very first payment may be slower while identity checks are done. Get verified before you need to send when a deadline is involved.

Practical ways to save on NOK/CNY

Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A low headline fee proves nothing when the margin is high. The fairest figure to compare is the CNY amount after every cost, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.

If you pay or withdraw cash in a CNY country, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.

Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. When there is no deadline, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. That avoids guessing, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and funding by bank transfer tends to keep costs down. Bundling smaller transfers reduces what you pay in flat fees.

Where the cost of converting NOK to CNY hides

The majority of services will not give you the mid-market rate itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and keep the difference. People call this the markup. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 NOK on every 100 NOK, without it ever appearing as a fee.

On top of the margin, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. On classic bank transfers abroad the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, and those only show up at the end.

Look twice at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The reliable test is the total amount that arrives in CNY for an identical NOK amount, and the comparison table on this page is ranked on exactly that.
