The SOL/ETH exchange rate: rate, costs and context

This overview brings together the exchange rate between Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH), together with the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. As of October 30, 2026, one SOL is worth 0.042870 ETH, and one ETH comes to 23.3261 SOL.

That headline number is the interbank mid rate. It is calculated as the middle of the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Think of it as a neutral benchmark: no fee or margin is built in, which is exactly why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.

What ends up on the ETH side comes down to two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we show how those costs are built up, look at what a conversion costs in practice and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when you change SOL into ETH.

The SOL/ETH rate over twelve months

Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate has changed by -13.79%. In that period the top of the range was 0.049727 ETH for one SOL, and the bottom of the range was 0.035839. Today’s rate of 0.042870 can be measured against those two levels.

The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. On a large conversion, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, occasionally more than the difference between providers.

The rate reflects interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If timing matters to you, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.

What to know about SOL/ETH on crypto platforms

Where you convert matters a lot with crypto. On an exchange with an order book, you pay the difference between bid and ask, on top of a maker or taker fee. Simple broker apps often show one price that has the cost baked in.

When you move crypto to or from your own wallet, a network fee applies. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, which makes small withdrawals relatively expensive. Make sure the sending and receiving side use the same network: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.

Crypto prices can move sharply within minutes. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, while large trades risk slippage. Use the rate here as a guide, not as a binding quote.

Think about custody as well. If you leave crypto on a platform, the platform controls it, while self-custody means you alone can access, or lose, the funds. Use platforms that are registered with the regulator in your country.

Mid-market rate versus the rate you get

Most providers stay away from the mid-market rate as such. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and pocket the gap. This is known as the exchange rate margin. With a 2% markup, for instance, you lose roughly 2 SOL on every 100 SOL, without it ever appearing as a fee.

Besides the hidden margin, a lot of services add a visible fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a share of what you send or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, and those only show up at the end.

Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The only fair way to compare is how much ETH the recipient ends up with for exactly the same sum, which is how the table above is sorted.

How our SOL/ETH comparison works

Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, to calculate what actually arrives in ETH. We do this for 20 providers, ranked from most to least received.

We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.

We are not owned by any provider. Some of the links are affiliate links. The order is never affected by them: the only ranking criterion is the amount received.

Sending a larger amount from SOL to ETH

Check the provider’s licence first. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own.

Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign. Verify through a channel you trust.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.

Sample calculation for 10.0000 SOL

Let’s use a conversion of 10.0000 SOL. At the mid-market rate of 0.042870, that marks the theoretical maximum of what any provider could deliver in ETH. No service pays out that exact figure, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.

Looking at all 20 providers we track, Crypto.com came out cheapest for this amount and paid out 0.4282 ETH at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.

Bear in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. A flat fee hurts most when the amount is small, whereas the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above to see the ranking that applies to you.

Practical ways to save on SOL/ETH

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little when the margin is high. The number that matters is the ETH amount after every cost, and that already includes both margin and fee.

If you pay or withdraw cash in a ETH country, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. It tends to be among the most expensive ways to convert. Always opt to pay in the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.

Watch the timing as well. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. When there is no deadline, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once SOL/ETH reaches a level you choose. That avoids guessing, but the target may never be reached.

The payment method matters as well. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Bundling smaller transfers means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
