Converting Platinum into Indian Rupee: what you are looking at

The page you are reading brings together the price relationship between Platinum (XPT) and Indian Rupee (INR) and compares it with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. As of October 31, 2026, 1 XPT equals 136,163.58 INR, and 1 INR equals 0.0000073441 XPT.

The figure at the top is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is the midpoint between the price at which large banks buy XPT and the price at which they sell it. It works as the cleanest reference you can get: no fee or margin is built in, and that is why you rarely get it as a private customer.

The amount that lands in the other account depends on two things: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we take those costs apart, show how they add up on a real amount and share simple habits to keep more of your money when you change XPT into INR.

How our XPT/INR comparison works

We start from the live mid-market rate for XPT/INR. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, and work out how much INR the recipient would end up with. The comparison covers 0 providers, placed side by side.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. The final price is always set by the provider itself, because their rate can move between our updates, especially when markets are busy.

We are not owned by any provider. Some links on this page are affiliate links. The order is never affected by them: the provider that delivers the most INR comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.

How the XPT/INR precious metal price works

The standard unit for metals is the troy ounce, slightly heavier than a regular ounce, at around 31.1 grams. XAU is the code for gold, XAG for silver, XPT for platinum and XPD for palladium, which is why they appear here like any other currency. One unit in this pair means one troy ounce.

What you see is the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Buy a coin or small bar and you pay a premium on top, to pay for production, distribution and the seller’s margin. Selling back typically happens below the spot price.

Ownership comes in more than one shape. Physical metal at home needs safe storage and insurance. Vault storage through a dealer costs a yearly fee, with the metal registered to you. Exchange-traded products give exposure to the price, not always to the metal itself.

Taxes can change the picture. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. This page shows the price and does not tell you whether to buy or sell.

How XPT/INR moved over the past year

Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate shows a change of -26.66%. In that period the top of the range was 217,626.36 INR per XPT, while the lowest was 136,163.58. The current 136,163.58 can be measured against those two levels.

The spread between the year’s extremes is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. The statistics here are historical, not a forecast. If you want to act on a certain rate, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.

Larger transfers: what to check first

Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.

Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign: confirm by phone using a number you already know.

Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, like a statement or a sales contract. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.

Getting the most INR for your XPT

Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The fairest figure to compare is the INR amount after every cost, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.

At foreign tills and cash machines, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Watch the timing as well. Some providers widen their margin at weekends, when currency markets are closed. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. That avoids guessing, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Finally, look at how you pay. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Sending less often but in larger amounts reduces what you pay in flat fees.

What banks and apps really charge for XPT to INR

Most providers do not convert at the rate of 136,163.58 as such. They shift the rate in their own favour and earn on the difference. This is known as the spread. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 XPT on every 100 XPT, without it ever appearing as a fee.

Besides the hidden margin, many providers add a visible fee. It may be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.

Take a close look at offers that say "no fees" or "0% commission". Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. What really counts is the final INR figure for an identical XPT amount, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
