SWIFT/BIC codes in Indonesia
Our directory lists 355 banks and other institutions in Indonesia. A SWIFT code tells every bank in the chain exactly which bank is meant to get an international payment.
Search for the bank you need below and click through for all codes we have and what else a transfer requires. Further down we explain how a code from Indonesia is put together, how to send money there without overpaying and what to check before you pay.
What the letters in a Indonesia BIC mean
A BIC is 8 or 11 characters long and the parts always come in the same order. The first four letters identify the bank, the fifth and sixth characters form the country code and characters seven and eight give the location.
In every code from Indonesia, characters five and six show the ISO country code of Indonesia. If those two letters point to another country, you are looking at a bank in another country – worth double-checking.
When a code ends in XXX, it refers to the main office. Choose a branch code just if the recipient explicitly gives you one – otherwise stick with the head office.
How long does a transfer to Indonesia take?
How quickly money arrives in Indonesia is determined by several factors: which currency you send, how many intermediary banks are involved, cut-off times and differences in time zone. Payments made late in the day or just before a weekend or public holiday usually go out a business day later.
If the money seems late, ask the sender to contact their own bank – the receiving bank often cannot see a payment that has not arrived. Keep the payment confirmation until the money has arrived; a bank needs it to start a trace.
Getting paid from abroad into an account in Indonesia
A sender in another country needs several details from you, and missing ones are a common cause of delays. Give them your name as registered with the bank, the IBAN or account number, your bank’s SWIFT code and your address, which some banks require.
Your bank’s code appears in our list but always compare it with your own bank details. Certain banks also want your bank’s address, so keep it at hand.
Expect that the amount credited is below what the sender paid. Fees for incoming transfers differ per bank – your bank’s price list tells you what applies. On invoices, agree how the fees are split, so nobody is left short.
About our data and how to check a code
Ask the recipient to copy the account details straight from their online banking. If the code you have does not match the code listed here, do not guess – contact the recipient or their bank.
Our SWIFT/BIC directory is compiled from publicly available sources that we update periodically. Even so, banks merge or change codes and our data may lag behind. Before any payment of any size, confirm the BIC with the recipient. GoldexPay is an independent comparison site.
Watch out for invoices containing changed bank details. Before paying, verify changed details by phone on a number you know.
Bank Negara Indonesia - Pt (Persero) and its SWIFT codes
Of the 355 banks in Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia - Pt (Persero) has the most codes. Its main office has BNINIDJAXXX.
Practice differs in how many codes they register, so the count is not a ranking of size. If not a branch code is given, BNINIDJAXXX is fine for a payment to Bank Negara Indonesia - Pt (Persero).

Why a transfer to Indonesia needs a SWIFT code
Since Indonesia does not belong to SEPA, a transfer from abroad is usually sent as a SWIFT payment. That means the payment always needs the SWIFT/BIC code of the receiving bank, together with the account number or IBAN.
Depending on the country, accounts are identified by a domestic account number instead of an IBAN, sometimes with an extra bank or branch code. Ask the recipient exactly which details their bank needs for payments from abroad; banks often publish instructions for this. International transfers sometimes go via one or more intermediary banks.
Bank or transfer service for Indonesia?
When you transfer money to Indonesia via your bank, the fee you see is only part of what you pay. There is a transfer fee, sometimes charges from intermediary banks along the way and, above all, the margin on the exchange rate.
That exchange rate margin is often the largest part of the cost because it is hidden in the rate. An easy check: put the rate you get next to the mid-market rate and work out the difference on your amount.
Specialised transfer providers frequently use a rate near the mid-market rate with clearer fees. GoldexPay lists transfer services next to each other so you can see what actually arrives in Indonesia before you commit.
