The BTC/XPT exchange rate explained

The page you are reading follows the rate for Bitcoin (BTC) and Platinum (XPT), together with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. As of October 31, 2026, 1 BTC buys 53.9983 XPT, while a single XPT comes to 0.018519 BTC.

That headline number is the mid-market rate. It sits exactly halfway between what wholesale traders pay for BTC and what they ask for it. It works as a fair reference point: nobody earns anything on it directly, which is exactly why consumers almost never receive it in full.

What ends up on the XPT side is shaped by two separate costs: the margin a provider adds to that rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Below the converter and chart we explain how those costs work, show how they add up on a real amount and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when you change BTC into XPT.

Getting the most XPT for your BTC

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive if the rate is poor. The fairest figure to compare is how much XPT arrives for your BTC, which combines the markup and the fee.

At foreign tills and cash machines, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. That option is known as dynamic currency conversion, or DCC. The rate used is usually poor. Choose the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.

Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. For transfers that can wait, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Also check how you fund the transfer. Paying by credit card can trigger extra charges, while a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer means fixed charges hit you fewer times.

Buying or selling crypto: BTC to XPT

With crypto, the price you pay depends heavily on where you trade. On an exchange with an order book, you deal with a spread between the highest bid and the lowest ask, plus a trading fee. Simple broker apps often show one price with the margin already included.

When you move crypto to or from your own wallet, you pay a network or withdrawal fee. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Double-check the network before you send: mistakes here are rarely reversible.

The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, while large trades risk slippage. Use the rate here as a guide, not as a binding quote.

Also decide who holds the keys. Coins kept on an exchange are held by that exchange, whereas a personal wallet puts the responsibility, and the risk of losing access, on you. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.

How GoldexPay compares BTC to XPT providers

We start from the live mid-market rate for BTC/XPT. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, to calculate what actually arrives in XPT. The comparison covers 0 providers, ranked from most to least received.

We update the rates every 30 minutes, with October 31, 2026 as the reference date. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.

No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. We may earn a commission through some links, which help fund our work. They have no influence on the order: the provider that delivers the most XPT comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.

Sending a larger amount from BTC to XPT

Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own, which protects you if something goes wrong.

Check names and account details twice. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Verify through a channel you trust.

Larger transfers often come with additional questions. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, like a statement or a sales contract. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.

Where the cost of converting BTC to XPT hides

The majority of services will not give you the mid-market rate as such. They offer a rate that is a little less favourable and pocket the gap. This is known as the spread. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 BTC on every 100 BTC, without it ever appearing as a fee.

Besides the hidden margin, a lot of services ask for a separate fee. It may be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad extra deductions can follow, and those only show up at the end.

Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. The cost often sits in the rate instead. What really counts is the final XPT figure for exactly the same sum, which is how the table above is sorted.

Reading a gold or silver price

Gold and silver prices are expressed per troy ounce, equal to roughly 31.1 grams. The codes XAU, XAG, XPT and XPD stand for gold, silver, platinum and palladium, and they are treated like a currency in this pair. The rate shown is the price of one troy ounce.

The rate is based on the spot price: the price professionals pay for large quantities. Coins and small bars cost more than spot, because of manufacturing and dealer costs. Selling back typically happens below the spot price.

Ownership comes in more than one shape. Physical metal at home needs safe storage and insurance. Vault storage through a dealer comes with storage costs but takes care of security. Funds and certificates follow the price without you owning a bar directly.

Tax rules also differ. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. We show prices, not investment advice.

One year of BTC to XPT

Over the past twelve months, the price of BTC in XPT moved by +59.78%. During that year the top of the range was 53.9983 XPT for one BTC, while the bottom of the range was 27.8507. Today’s rate of 53.9983 is easy to place within that band.

The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, sometimes more than the choice of provider.

Rates are pushed around by interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If timing matters to you, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
