CNY to SGD: rate, costs and context
The page you are reading follows the exchange rate between Chinese Yuan (CNY) and Singapore Dollar (SGD), together with what real providers charge to convert one into the other. As of October 31, 2026, one CNY is worth 0.192008 SGD, and a single SGD equals 5.2081 CNY.
The figure at the top is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is the midpoint between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Treat it as a neutral benchmark: it contains no profit margin and no fees, which is exactly why consumers almost never receive it in full.
What you actually receive is shaped by two separate costs: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Below the converter and chart we take those costs apart, put them side by side and list practical steps to get closer to the mid-market rate when converting CNY to SGD.
Why we compare total cost
Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 0.192008. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, to calculate what actually arrives in SGD. We do this for 8 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.
Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 31, 2026. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.
We are not owned by any provider. Some links on this page are affiliate links. They have no influence on the order: the provider that delivers the most SGD comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
Mid-market rate versus the rate you get
The majority of services will not give you the rate of 0.192008 itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and earn on the difference. That gap is called the spread. A markup of 2%, for example, means that about 2 out of every 100 CNY never reach the recipient.
On top of the margin, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a share of what you send or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad other banks along the route may take their own cut, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Look twice at services that advertise free transfers. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The only fair way to compare is the final SGD figure for an identical CNY amount, which is how the table above is sorted.
Before you send: security and large amounts
Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own and that offers protection if the company fails.
Check names and account details twice. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Providers may ask for proof of where the money comes from, like a statement or a sales contract. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Some also let you lock in a rate for a short period.
SWIFT versus local payout for CNY to SGD
A traditional bank sends your payment through SWIFT. Along the way one or more intermediary banks may handle it, and each can take a fee. Delivery usually takes one to several working days, and the final deduction is often only visible afterwards.
Many money transfer apps use a different model. They have local accounts on both sides, which means your payment and the payout both happen domestically. This usually cuts both time and cost, with the final SGD amount fixed upfront.
Speed is not down to the provider alone: your payment method, cut-off times and public holidays on either side. New customers sometimes wait a little longer as the provider completes its checks. Get verified before you need to send when a deadline is involved.
Where Chinese Yuan and Singapore Dollar are used
Chinese Yuan is the money you pay with in China. Singapore Dollar is what people pay with in Singapore. That is useful to know for anyone who earns in one of these currencies and spends in the other.
The reasons for changing CNY into SGD vary: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. Each situation asks for something different: a single big transfer calls for the best rate, whereas regular small amounts suffer more from flat charges.
The way money is paid out also differs per country. Depending on the country, you need an IBAN, a local account number or a mobile wallet and in certain countries mobile wallets or cash collection are widely used. Have the recipient’s full details ready before you begin.
How to get a better CNY to SGD rate
Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A small fee on its own says little if the rate is poor. The number that matters is the SGD amount after every cost, which combines margin and fee.
When you pay by card abroad, you may be asked whether to pay in CNY or in the local currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.
Timing plays a role too. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. When there is no deadline, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once CNY/SGD reaches a level you choose. That avoids guessing, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
How CNY/SGD moved over the past year
Across the last year, the exchange rate moved by +4.96%. In that period the highest level was 0.192315 SGD for one CNY, while the bottom of the range was 0.181620. At 0.192008, the rate today is easy to place within that band.
The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. On a large conversion, the moment of conversion matters in actual money, even when the fee stays the same.
The rate reflects interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. The statistics here are historical, not a forecast. If timing matters to you, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
5,000.00 CNY to SGD, step by step
Take an amount of 5,000.00 CNY. At the mid-market rate of 0.192008, you can work out the upper limit of what any provider could deliver in SGD. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, as costs are deducted somewhere in the process.
Of the 8 providers we compared, Revolut gave the best result, with 955.24 SGD in the end. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Bear in mind that a different amount can produce a different winner. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above to see the ranking that applies to you.
