The ETH/XAG exchange rate: rate, costs and context

This overview brings together the price relationship between Ethereum (ETH) and Silver (XAG) and sets it next to the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. At the latest update on October 30, 2026, 1 ETH buys 44.6776 XAG, while one XAG is worth 0.022383 ETH.

That headline number is the mid-market rate. It sits exactly halfway between the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Think of it as a fair reference point: nobody earns anything on it directly, and that is why you rarely get it as a private customer.

What ends up on the XAG side comes down to two things: the margin a provider adds to that rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Below the converter and chart we take those costs apart, put them side by side and list practical steps to get closer to the mid-market rate when you change ETH into XAG.

What to know about ETH/XAG on crypto platforms

With crypto, the price you pay depends heavily on where you trade. On a trading platform, you deal with a spread between the highest bid and the lowest ask, on top of a maker or taker fee. Simple broker apps often show one price which hides a wider spread.

If you withdraw coins to a wallet, a network fee applies. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Always check which network a platform uses: coins sent over the wrong network can be lost.

Crypto prices can move sharply within minutes. Quoted prices tend to expire quickly, and on large orders the execution price can slip. Treat the figure above as an indication.

Custody is another point to consider. Coins kept on an exchange are held by that exchange, whereas a personal wallet puts the responsibility, and the risk of losing access, on you. Check that a platform is registered or licensed with a financial regulator where you live.

Precious metals priced in currency: ETH/XAG

The standard unit for metals is the troy ounce, equal to roughly 31.1 grams. The codes XAU, XAG, XPT and XPD stand for gold, silver, platinum and palladium, and they are treated like a currency in this pair. The rate shown is the price of one troy ounce.

The rate is based on the spot price: the wholesale price for immediate delivery of large bars. Coins and small bars cost more than spot, covering minting, handling and the dealer’s margin. When you sell, dealers usually pay somewhat below spot.

Ownership comes in more than one shape. Keeping coins or bars yourself means arranging storage and insurance. Professional storage costs a yearly fee, with the metal registered to you. Exchange-traded products give exposure to the price, not always to the metal itself.

Tax rules also differ. In the EU, investment gold is generally exempt from VAT, while silver usually is not. The information here is meant as background, not as advice.

Before you send: security and large amounts

Only use providers that are regulated. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own and that offers protection if the company fails.

Verify every detail of the recipient. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Verify through a channel you trust.

For large amounts, expect extra checks. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.

The ETH/XAG rate over twelve months

Compared with a year ago, the exchange rate has changed by +66.44%. Within those twelve months the top of the range was 45.3657 XAG for one ETH, and the bottom of the range was 21.6817. Today’s rate of 44.6776 is easy to place within that band.

The distance between the high and the low is a useful reminder of how far the rate can travel. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, even when the fee stays the same.

Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. The statistics here are historical, not a forecast. If timing matters to you, a rate alert is a calmer option than trying to predict the market.

Mid-market rate versus the rate you get

Most providers stay away from the rate of 44.6776 as such. Instead they quote a slightly worse rate and keep the difference. That gap is called the markup. If the margin is 2%, then for every 100 ETH you convert, about 2 ETH worth disappears before the money arrives.

Besides the hidden margin, most banks add a visible fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network the receiving or intermediary bank sometimes deducts a charge too, and those only show up at the end.

Look twice at anything sold as commission-free. The cost often sits in the rate instead. The reliable test is the final XAG figure for exactly the same sum, which is how the table above is sorted.

Paying less when you change ETH into XAG

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. What you want to know is how much XAG arrives for your ETH, which combines the markup and the fee.

When you pay by card abroad, a terminal may offer to charge you in your home currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Choose the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.

Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. When there is no deadline, you can set a target rate and let the provider convert only when it is reached. That avoids guessing, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Also check how you fund the transfer. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts also cuts the impact of fixed fees.

How we rank providers for ETH to XAG

We start from the live mid-market rate for ETH/XAG. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, to calculate what actually arrives in XAG. In total 0 providers are included, placed side by side.

The figures refresh every half hour, with October 30, 2026 as the reference date. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, and it can differ slightly from our calculation, especially when markets are busy.

No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help fund our work. That never changes the ranking: the provider that delivers the most XAG comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
