The PLN/CNY exchange rate explained

This overview follows the price relationship between Polish Zloty (PLN) and Chinese Yuan (CNY) and sets it next to the cost of an actual conversion at a range of providers. On October 30, 2026, 1 PLN buys 1.6911 CNY, and a single CNY equals 0.591335 PLN.

The figure at the top is the interbank mid rate. It is calculated as the middle of the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Treat it as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, which is exactly why you rarely get it as a private customer.

The amount that lands in the other account is shaped by two separate costs: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the fee you see on the order screen. Further down we explain how those costs work, show how they add up on a real amount and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when you swap Polish Zloty for Chinese Yuan.

One year of PLN to CNY

Over the past twelve months, the exchange rate moved by -12.66%. Within those twelve months the rate peaked at 1.9792 CNY for one PLN, while the low point came in at 1.6867. Today’s rate of 1.6911 sits somewhere inside that range.

The spread between the year’s extremes puts the movement into real terms. When you convert a substantial sum, timing has a visible effect on the outcome, even when the fee stays the same.

Rates are pushed around by news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. These figures describe the past and say nothing about what comes next. If you want to act on a certain rate, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.

Choosing a route to send CNY

With a classic international transfer, the bank sends the payment via the SWIFT system. Along the way one or more intermediary banks may handle it, sometimes taking a fee at each step. Expect anything from one to a few working days, and the final deduction is often only visible afterwards.

Many money transfer apps use a different model. They keep money in accounts in both regions, so your PLN stays in the PLN system and the recipient is paid in CNY from a local account. This usually cuts both time and cost, and the amount that arrives is known in advance.

How fast a transfer really is depends on more than the provider: your payment method, cut-off times and public holidays on either side. The very first payment may be slower as the provider completes its checks. Upload your documents early if the money has to arrive on a set date.

How GoldexPay compares PLN to CNY providers

Every calculation begins with the mid-market rate of 1.6911. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, and work out how much CNY the recipient would end up with. We do this for 9 providers, ranked from most to least received.

Rates are refreshed every 30 minutes, so the page reflects the market of October 30, 2026. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, because their rate can move between our updates.

We are not owned by any provider. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help fund our work. They have no influence on the order: providers are sorted purely by how much CNY the recipient gets.

Getting the most CNY for your PLN

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. The number that matters is the CNY amount after every cost, and that already includes both margin and fee.

If you pay or withdraw cash in a CNY country, you may be asked whether to pay in PLN or in the local currency. The trade name for this is dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Always opt to pay in the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.

Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once PLN/CNY reaches a level you choose. It takes the guesswork out, but there is no guarantee the rate will get there.

Also check how you fund the transfer. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, and a regular bank transfer to the provider is usually the cheapest way in. Sending less often but in larger amounts reduces what you pay in flat fees.

5,000.00 PLN to CNY, step by step

Let’s use an amount of 5,000.00 PLN. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (1.6911), that marks the theoretical maximum of what is possible on the CNY side. In reality every provider keeps something, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.

Looking at all 9 providers we track, Wise came out cheapest for this amount: the recipient gets 8,414.40 CNY at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.

Keep in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Enter your own amount in the converter to see the ranking that applies to you.

Where the cost of converting PLN to CNY hides

Nearly every bank and app stay away from the mid-market rate itself. They shift the rate in their own favour and pocket the gap. That gap is called the exchange rate margin. A markup of 2%, for example, means that about 2 out of every 100 PLN never reach the recipient.

Next to that markup, most banks charge an explicit fee. It may be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. On classic bank transfers abroad extra deductions can follow, and those only show up at the end.

Look twice at services that advertise free transfers. In many cases the margin in the rate simply does the work of the fee. The reliable test is how much CNY the recipient ends up with for the same amount of PLN, and that is the figure our table ranks on.

Sending a larger amount from PLN to CNY

Make sure the provider is licensed. In the UK that means authorisation by the FCA, elsewhere a central bank or financial supervisor. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.

Verify every detail of the recipient. An international payment is hard to reverse once it is sent. Unexpected changes to payment details are a classic warning sign: confirm by phone using a number you already know.

For large amounts, expect extra checks. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.

Where you pay with PLN and CNY

Polish Zloty is used in Poland. Chinese Yuan is used in China. This matters for anyone who earns in one of these currencies and spends in the other.

The reasons for changing PLN into CNY vary: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. What suits one case may not suit another: a one-off large payment benefits most from a sharp rate, while frequent smaller payments suffer more from flat charges.

The way money is paid out also differs per country. Account formats differ: IBAN in one place, account and routing numbers in another, and in some places cash pickup or mobile money is common. Check which details the provider needs before you start.
