The CNY/USDT exchange rate: rate, costs and context

This page tracks the price relationship between Chinese Yuan (CNY) and Tether (USDT) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. On October 30, 2026, 1 CNY buys 0.150384 USDT, and one USDT equals 6.6497 CNY.

The rate shown above is the mid-market rate. It is the midpoint between what wholesale traders pay for CNY and what they ask for it. Think of it as the cleanest reference you can get: nobody earns anything on it directly, and that is why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.

The amount that lands in the other account depends on two separate costs: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Further down we explain how those costs work, put them side by side and share simple habits to get closer to the mid-market rate when you change CNY into USDT.

The CNY/USDT rate over twelve months

Over the past twelve months, the price of CNY in USDT moved by +6.99%. Within those twelve months the rate peaked at 0.150384 USDT per CNY, and the lowest was 0.140316. The current 0.150384 can be measured against those two levels.

The spread between the year’s extremes puts the movement into real terms. When you convert a substantial sum, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, even when the fee stays the same.

Exchange rates respond to interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.

How our CNY/USDT comparison works

Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, to calculate what actually arrives in USDT. We do this for 1 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.

We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Always check the final quote in the provider’s app or website, because their rate can move between our updates.

We are not owned by any provider. We may earn a commission through some links. The order is never affected by them: the provider that delivers the most USDT comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.

Tips for converting CNY to USDT

Judge on what arrives, not on what is advertised. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. The fairest figure to compare is how much USDT arrives for your CNY, and that already includes both the markup and the fee.

When you pay by card abroad, you may be asked whether to pay in CNY or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Always opt to pay in the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.

Watch the timing as well. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. It saves you from checking the rate every day, though the target may never be reached.

The payment method matters as well. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, while a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer reduces what you pay in flat fees.

Mid-market rate versus the rate you get

Most providers do not convert at the rate of 0.150384 itself. They quote a slightly worse rate and earn on the difference. This is known as the markup. If the margin is 2%, then you lose roughly 2 CNY on every 100 CNY, without it ever appearing as a fee.

Next to that markup, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. This is usually a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or both at once. For transfers sent through the banking network extra deductions can follow, and those only show up at the end.

Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. The cost often sits in the rate instead. The reliable test is how much USDT the recipient ends up with for exactly the same sum, which is how the table above is sorted.

Crypto spreads, network fees and custody

Crypto prices differ from platform to platform. On an exchange with an order book, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, on top of a maker or taker fee. Simple broker apps often show one price with the margin already included.

If you withdraw coins to a wallet, there is a separate network charge. It is unrelated to how much you move, so it weighs more on small transactions. Always check which network a platform uses: coins sent over the wrong network can be lost.

The price of a crypto asset can swing hard in a short time. A quote is often only valid for a short moment, and on large orders the execution price can slip. Treat the figure above as an indication.

Custody is another point to consider. Coins kept on an exchange are held by that exchange, whereas self-custody means you alone can access, or lose, the funds. Look for registration with a financial supervisor before you deposit.

Sample calculation for 5,000.00 CNY

Let’s use a conversion of 5,000.00 CNY. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (0.150384), that marks the theoretical maximum of what the recipient could get. No service pays out that exact figure, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.

Across the 1 providers in our comparison, Revolut gave the best result: the recipient gets 740.72 USDT at the time of our last update. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.

Keep in mind that the cheapest provider for 5,000.00 CNY is not automatically the cheapest for every amount. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Try your actual amount in the calculator above to see the ranking that applies to you.

Sending a larger amount from CNY to USDT

Only use providers that are regulated. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Licensed payment firms must keep customer money separate from their own.

Check names and account details twice. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Call to confirm, using contact details you already had.

Big sums usually trigger extra verification. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, like a statement or a sales contract. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
