The ETH/HKD exchange rate: rate, costs and context
This page tracks the price relationship between Ethereum (ETH) and Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) and sets it next to what real providers charge to convert one into the other. As of October 31, 2026, 1 ETH buys 17,602.46 HKD, and one HKD is worth 0.0000568102 ETH.
The figure at the top is the mid-market rate. It is calculated as the middle of the buying and selling prices on the wholesale market. Treat it as a fair reference point: no fee or margin is built in, and that is why few consumer services pass it on unchanged.
What ends up on the HKD side comes down to two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and any fixed or percentage fee. Further down we show how those costs are built up, put them side by side and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when you change ETH into HKD.
Ethereum against Hong Kong Dollar: the last twelve months
Compared with a year ago, the price of ETH in HKD has changed by -40.42%. During that year the top of the range was 30,357.79 HKD per ETH, while the bottom of the range was 12,280.58. At 17,602.46, the rate today sits somewhere inside that range.
The distance between the high and the low shows how much the rate can move in practice. On a large conversion, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
Exchange rates respond to news, economic data and supply and demand on the market. The statistics here are historical, not a forecast. If you are waiting for a particular level, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
Paying less when you change ETH into HKD
Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A low headline fee proves nothing if the rate is poor. The fairest figure to compare is the HKD amount after every cost, which combines margin and fee.
At foreign tills and cash machines, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Pick the local currency and the conversion follows your card’s own terms.
Watch the timing as well. At weekends, with the wholesale market shut, some services add an extra buffer to the rate. For transfers that can wait, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once ETH/HKD reaches a level you choose. That avoids guessing, but the target may never be reached.
The payment method matters as well. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, and a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Bundling smaller transfers reduces what you pay in flat fees.
Crypto spreads, network fees and custody
Crypto prices differ from platform to platform. On a trading platform, there is a gap between the buy and sell price, the spread, plus a trading fee. Easy buy buttons in apps usually quote a single price with the margin already included.
Withdrawing crypto from a platform, there is a separate network charge. It is unrelated to how much you move, so for small amounts it can be a large share. Double-check the network before you send: a mismatch can mean the funds never arrive.
Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. A displayed price may be fixed only for a few seconds, and big orders can fill at a worse price than shown. Treat the figure above as an indication.
Think about custody as well. On a platform, someone else manages the private keys, while in your own wallet you are fully responsible for the keys. Check that a platform is registered or licensed with a financial regulator where you live.
Example: converting 0.5000 ETH
Let’s use an amount of 0.5000 ETH. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (17,602.46), you can work out the upper limit of what any provider could deliver in HKD. No service pays out that exact figure, because margins and fees come off first.
Of the 1 providers we compared, Revolut delivered the most and paid out 8,670.09 HKD at the time of our last update. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Keep in mind that a different amount can produce a different winner. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Run your own figure through the converter and check whether the order changes.
How we rank providers for ETH to HKD
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. Each provider’s published fee and markup are applied on top, to calculate what actually arrives in HKD. In total 1 providers are included, ranked from most to least received.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, because their rate can move between our updates, especially when markets are busy.
No bank, app or exchange owns GoldexPay. We may earn a commission through some links, which help pay for the site. They have no influence on the order: the provider that delivers the most HKD comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
Larger transfers: what to check first
Check the provider’s licence first. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Watch out for pressure, urgency or a last-minute change of account details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
For large amounts, expect extra checks. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some providers lower their margin on request for larger customers. A rate lock, where offered, removes uncertainty while the money is on its way.
How providers price ETH to HKD
Nearly every bank and app stay away from the rate of 17,602.46 as such. Instead they offer a rate that is a little less favourable and earn on the difference. That gap is called the markup. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 ETH on every 100 ETH, without it ever appearing as a fee.
Besides the hidden margin, a lot of services add a visible fee. That can be a flat charge per payment, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. For transfers sent through the banking network other banks along the route may take their own cut, which shrinks the amount that finally arrives.
Be wary of anything sold as commission-free. The cost often sits in the rate instead. The reliable test is how much HKD the recipient ends up with for exactly the same sum, which is how the table above is sorted.
