The ETH/RON exchange rate: what you are looking at
The page you are reading tracks the exchange rate between Ethereum (ETH) and Romanian Leu (RON) and sets it next to the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 31, 2026, 1 ETH buys 10,728.29 RON, and 1 RON comes to 0.0000932115 ETH.
That headline number is the mid-market rate. It is the midpoint between what wholesale traders pay for ETH and what they ask for it. Treat it as a fair reference point: it contains no profit margin and no fees, so consumers almost never receive it in full.
What you actually receive is shaped by two separate costs: the gap between the provider’s rate and the mid-market rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Below the converter and chart we show how those costs are built up, put them side by side and share simple habits to lose less on the exchange when converting ETH to RON.
Example: converting 0.5000 ETH
Let’s use a conversion of 0.5000 ETH. Converted at the pure mid-market rate (10,728.29), you can work out the upper limit of what is possible on the RON side. In practice nobody hands over that full amount, because margins and fees come off first.
Of the 1 providers we compared, Revolut delivered the most, with 5,284.22 RON in the end. Whatever is missing compared with the mid-market amount is what the conversion actually cost you.
Keep in mind that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, whereas a percentage margin grows along with the amount. Enter your own amount in the converter to see the ranking that applies to you.
Recent movement in the ETH/RON rate
Compared with a year ago, the ETH/RON rate shows a change of -35.89%. Within those twelve months the rate peaked at 17,249.99 RON for one ETH, while the low point came in at 7,094.29. The current 10,728.29 is easy to place within that band.
That range between high and low shows how much the rate can move in practice. For a bigger amount, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, sometimes more than the choice of provider.
Exchange rates respond to interest rate decisions, inflation figures, trade flows and general market sentiment. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you are waiting for a particular level, use an alert or limit order rather than a hunch.
Practical ways to save on ETH/RON
Compare the total cost, not the fee alone. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive when the margin is high. What you want to know is how much RON arrives for your ETH, which combines margin and fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a RON country, you may be asked whether to pay in ETH or in the local currency. This is called dynamic currency conversion. The rate used is usually poor. Pick the local currency so your bank or card issuer handles the exchange.
Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, an alert tells you when the rate hits a level you are happy with. It saves you from checking the rate every day, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. Card payments often cost more than a bank transfer, while a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer means fixed charges hit you fewer times.
Crypto spreads, network fees and custody
With crypto, the price you pay depends heavily on where you trade. On an exchange with an order book, you pay the difference between bid and ask, plus a trading fee. Simple broker apps often show one price with the margin already included.
When you move crypto to or from your own wallet, there is a separate network charge. It is often a fixed amount regardless of the size of the transfer, which makes small withdrawals relatively expensive. Double-check the network before you send: mistakes here are rarely reversible.
Volatility is much higher than with regular currencies. A displayed price may be fixed only for a few seconds, while large trades risk slippage. Use the rate here as a guide, not as a binding quote.
Also decide who holds the keys. On a platform, someone else manages the private keys, whereas a personal wallet puts the responsibility, and the risk of losing access, on you. Check that a platform is registered or licensed with a financial regulator where you live.
How providers price ETH to RON
Most providers do not convert at the mid-market rate as such. They quote a slightly worse rate and keep the difference. People call this the markup. A markup of 2%, for example, means that about 2 out of every 100 ETH never reach the recipient.
Next to that markup, many providers charge an explicit fee. This is usually a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or both at once. With international bank payments other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Take a close look at services that advertise free transfers. The cost often sits in the rate instead. What really counts is the total amount that arrives in RON for an identical ETH amount, which is how the table above is sorted.
Safety checks before you convert ETH to RON
Check the provider’s licence first. Look for authorisation from the FCA in the UK or the financial regulator in your own country. Regulation includes rules on keeping your money apart from the company’s own.
Check names and account details twice. Mistakes are rarely fixed quickly with transfers abroad. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details: confirm by phone using a number you already know.
Big sums usually trigger extra verification. You may need to show proof of the source of funds, for example a contract of sale or an account statement. For big amounts it can pay to ask for a better rate. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
Why we compare total cost
We start from the live mid-market rate for ETH/RON. We then apply each provider’s published fees and exchange rate margin, to calculate what actually arrives in RON. The comparison covers 1 providers, so you can see the differences at a glance.
The figures refresh every half hour, with October 31, 2026 as the reference date. The final price is always set by the provider itself, because their rate can move between our updates.
We are not owned by any provider. Some of the links are affiliate links, which help pay for the site. They have no influence on the order: the provider that delivers the most RON comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
