INR to CNY: what you are looking at
This overview tracks the exchange rate between Indian Rupee (INR) and Chinese Yuan (CNY), together with the prices that banks, money apps and exchanges actually ask. On October 30, 2026, 1 INR equals 0.070089 CNY, while one CNY comes to 14.2675 INR.
That headline number is the mid-market rate, sometimes called the interbank rate. It is calculated as the middle of the price at which large banks buy INR and the price at which they sell it. It works as a neutral benchmark: it contains no profit margin and no fees, so consumers almost never receive it in full.
What you actually receive depends on two separate costs: a markup hidden in the exchange rate and the visible transfer or service fee. Further down we take those costs apart, show how they add up on a real amount and give concrete ways to lose less on the exchange when you swap Indian Rupee for Chinese Yuan.
Bank transfer or money transfer service for CNY?
With a classic international transfer, the bank sends the payment via the SWIFT system. Along the way one or more intermediary banks may handle it, each of which can deduct a charge. Delivery usually takes one to several working days, and the final deduction is often only visible afterwards.
Dedicated providers take another route. They keep money in accounts in both regions, so no money physically crosses the border: you pay in locally and the recipient is paid out locally. The result tends to be quicker and less expensive, with the final CNY amount fixed upfront.
How fast a transfer really is depends on more than the provider: your payment method, cut-off times and public holidays on either side. A first transfer can take longer as the provider completes its checks. Upload your documents early if the money has to arrive on a set date.
Paying less when you change INR into CNY
Look at the final amount, not just the fee. A provider with a low fee can still be expensive because the margin can make up the difference. The fairest figure to compare is the CNY amount after every cost, which combines the markup and the fee.
If you pay or withdraw cash in a CNY country, you can get a choice between your own currency and the local one. This is called dynamic currency conversion. It usually comes with a steep markup. Choose the local currency and let your own card provider do the conversion.
Timing can also matter. Rates quoted on a Saturday or Sunday can include a weekend surcharge. If you are not in a hurry, a rate alert or limit order lets you convert automatically once INR/CNY reaches a level you choose. It saves you from checking the rate every day, though there is no guarantee the rate will get there.
Finally, look at how you pay. A credit card may be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, while a plain bank transfer is normally the low-cost option. Combining several small payments into one larger transfer also cuts the impact of fixed fees.
How GoldexPay compares INR to CNY providers
Our starting point is the current mid-market rate. For each provider we apply its published fees and the margin it adds to the rate, to calculate what actually arrives in CNY. In total 9 providers are included, so you can see the differences at a glance.
We update the rates every 30 minutes, and the date on the page shows when the data was last updated. Providers confirm their own price at checkout, because their rate can move between our updates, especially when markets are busy.
We are not owned by any provider. Some links on this page are affiliate links, which help fund our work. That never changes the ranking: the provider that delivers the most CNY comes first, whether or not we have a link to it.
Safety checks before you convert INR to CNY
Check the provider’s licence first. A regulated provider is registered with a supervisor such as the FCA or your national central bank. Regulated firms have to safeguard client funds, which protects you if something goes wrong.
Double-check the recipient details before you confirm. Once money has left, getting it back is difficult. Be suspicious if someone urges you to pay quickly or suddenly changes bank details. Verify through a channel you trust.
For large amounts, expect extra checks. Have documents ready that show where the money came from, such as a payslip, sale agreement or bank statement. Some services offer better rates or a personal contact for larger transfers. Ask whether you can fix the rate in advance.
How providers price INR to CNY
Most providers will not give you the rate of 0.070089 as such. They quote a slightly worse rate and earn on the difference. That gap is called the exchange rate margin. A markup of 2%, for example, means that you lose roughly 2 INR on every 100 INR, without it ever appearing as a fee.
On top of the margin, a lot of services charge an explicit fee. That can be a fixed amount per transfer, a percentage of the amount or a mix of both. With international bank payments other banks along the route may take their own cut, so the recipient gets less than you expected.
Look twice at anything sold as commission-free. Free usually means the price is built into the exchange rate. The reliable test is the final CNY figure for an identical INR amount, and that is the figure our table ranks on.
Example: converting 100,000.00 INR
Let’s use a conversion of 100,000.00 INR. Using the reference rate of 0.070089, that marks the theoretical maximum of what the recipient could get. In reality every provider keeps something, since the margin and fees are taken out along the way.
Looking at all 9 providers we track, Wise came out cheapest for this amount, with 6,974.38 CNY at the time of our last update. The difference between that figure and the mid-market amount shows the true cost, fees and margin combined.
Note that rankings shift with the amount you send. Fixed fees weigh heavily on small sums, while the margin in the rate becomes the bigger cost on larger transfers. Run your own figure through the converter for a ranking that fits your situation.
The INR/CNY rate over twelve months
Over the past twelve months, the INR/CNY rate shows a change of -12.59%. During that year the top of the range was 0.080440 CNY per INR, while the bottom of the range was 0.069200. The current 0.070089 can be measured against those two levels.
The spread between the year’s extremes puts the movement into real terms. When you convert a substantial sum, the moment you choose can make a noticeable difference to what arrives, occasionally more than the difference between providers.
The rate reflects central bank policy, economic data and shifts in risk appetite. We show the figures as they are and do not make predictions. If you want to act on a certain rate, it is more practical to set an alert than to guess.
The countries behind INR and CNY
Indian Rupee is used in India. Chinese Yuan is what people pay with in China. Knowing this helps if you travel, shop online abroad or support someone in another country.
The reasons for changing INR into CNY vary: paying suppliers, supporting relatives, buying property or simply travelling. Each situation asks for something different: a one-off large payment calls for the best rate, whereas regular small amounts are more sensitive to fixed fees.
Each country has its own payment habits. Some recipients expect a bank account number with a local bank code, others an IBAN, and in some places cash pickup or mobile money is common. Check which details the provider needs before you start.
